Ian Mitchinson Fine Art Photography

Ian Mitchinson has been involved in the wedding photography industry since a young age, and has been shooting weddings for 15 years all over the world. Originally from South Africa, Ian attained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Photography at Ryerson University in Toronto Canada. Ian has worked as a photographer in Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Thailand, India and has been based back at his home on the beautiful shores of the Western Cape since 2006.

The Wedding

Ian’s goal of shooting the wedding is really three things. To ensure that the wedding is captured entirely in a photo journalistic style as well as capturing all the elements that have made the wedding, and to ensure that it is of the highest photographic quality. Ian has a unique take on wedding photography which he is held in high esteem by the wedding photography industry. Another goal of the wedding is to create a fine art collection of images that can be cherished as Art pieces, as well as having the required wedding images that one would normally expect. For every wedding we shoot, we dedicate between 20 to 30 hours of postproduction ensuring that every image (and not only a selection of images) is shown in its most beautiful form.

With all wedding packages that Ian takes on, they not only include the high-end printing and design products but also a full online after sales service. Each client gets their own web portal which they can use to communicate and complete their printing and editing requirements with Ian and his staff, as well as create interactive slide shows and web galleries for their friends and families. This works especially well with clients overseas as everything can be done online and in real time.

Besides capturing weddings along the Garden Route and nationally, Ian Mitchinson also runs Westside Studio. Westside Studio is a full service photographic solution for his clients and also other photographers. The services include Fine Art and Archival Printing, A range of custom designed photographic wedding albums, as well as professional retouching and editing, we also represent emerging artists, such as Francois Nash and Claire Atkinson.
