Lavande Guest House is strategically positioned in the centre of Dullstroom village, and also almost equidistance between Gauteng and the Game Reserves in the Lowveld. Being about two hours drive from Gauteng our guest house makes for a wonderful point to break your journey on the way to the Kruger Park or even on your return trip. Alternatively spend a wonderful restful and relaxing weekend in our quaint village.
The house is within easy walking distance to most restaurants, village boutiques and shops as well as a health spa, gym and other facilities. The property is very secure with undercover car parking for our visitors. It is a family home with a relaxed and friendly ambiance. We can cater for children from 8 years and older. The superb first floor private suite has its own separate and private entrance. It consists of two bedrooms (one with a comfortable double bed and the other with two single beds), a bathroom, and a large balcony with panoramic views.
In addition guests have the use of a bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a TV with local stations. Each bed is fitted with an electric blanket and the bedrooms have oil based heaters. In addition guests have the use of a secure child-friendly garden. Braai facilities are available if required. Unfortunately we have no facilities for pets.
Our beautiful guest house is the perfect base from which to explore the many attractions of the Dullstroom area and the Highlands Meander. For a longer stay explore the wonderful scenery around the village as well as the many exciting things to do here. A visit to the raptor rehabilitation centre, the Anglo-Boer graves on the eastern side of the village and, of course, the world class trout fishing opportunities. All these are within a kilometre or two of our guest house.
Dullstroom has the highest railway station in South Africa. With the village nestling at just under 7000 feet above sea level it makes it ideal for professional sports people to train – and for “normal” folk to enjoy the bracing highland climate. Walks around the village are numerous and informative. Our guest house sits above the centre of village at an altitude almost twice the height above sea level of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. Enjoy a glass of good wine on your own patio looking out over a magnificent view of the rolling countryside and distant hills.
Dullstroom is, of course, famed for its trout fishing but, after a long day sightseeing you will not need to go far to find somewhere to eat and drink. With some 24 lovely pubs and restaurants the entertainment facilities of Dullstroom are everywhere! The restaurants range from fine dining to hearty pub grub. Visitors, who want to walk, run or bike ride have a large and safe area in which to indulge their favourite sport. Many other outdoor interests are catered for in Dullstroom such as bird-watching (we have the three endangered cranes), four by four driving, quad biking, and other experiences.
