Elgin Accommodation / Buttonquail Nature Reserve Elgin Accommodation / Self Catering Tented Camp in Elgin

Unimaginable beauty... Unforgettable memories... a Unique experience...

Buttonquail has been described as the most stunning piece of Africa south of the Kruger Park, so if one's searching for a hidden jewel for last-minute holiday plans... this is a very favourable option!

Peace, tranquillity, fresh air, beauty and stress free. These are ones first impressions of Buttonquail. Perfect for jaded families and friends who want to go camping in nature without 'roughing it'. Buttonquail is a stylish safari style en suite tented camp overlooking the Palmiet River, filled with touches of luxury, making it a unique and truly relaxing experience.

Accommodation

The tents are all very comfortably furnished with queen size beds with percale cotton bedding, thick blankets, water bottles and double bunks for the kids (who bring sleeping bags), which have pillows and sheets. All tents have their own spacious bathrooms with proper toilets, basin and stone showers. There is endless hot water thanks to the gas geysers. All tents also have gas heaters for those crisp nights and thier own private stoep area.

Facilities

Although we are self catering, we try and supply the 'little' things that will make it easier for you to go away - we supply all adult bedding, all bath towels, handmade soaps, toilet paper, tea and coffee, cooking condiments etc. We are also serviced during the day, so 'mum' can relax as well, and nothing is too much trouble for the management team.

We are a "green" camp and pride ourselves by not having (or needing) electricity. We run on solar power, gas, parafine lanterns and candles. We have a 5 kva generator which we use for powering up projectors etc. for conferences and it also runs our laundry.

We have a very well equipped kitchen, so all one needs to bring is food and drinks - everything needed to prepare and cook a meal is there.

Children at Buttonquail

Buttonquail is a children's paradise - you can watch your child interact with others, braai marshmallows over the camp fire, get muddy and dirty and play just like a child should. We are about to have the first of many 'childrens adventure camps' in the school holidays and will also be offering kids parties and school outings.

Conferences & Weddings

Unusual and perfectly delightful getaway for catered conferences, functions, childrens adventure camps team building and country weddings.

Location & Attractions

Situated in the picturesque Palmiet Valley, only 75km from Cape Town, Buttonquail Nature Reserve shares a 5 km common boundary with the Kogelberg Biosphere. There are loads of activities you can do.
