Accommodation
Bucklands Rustic Tented Camp consists of four dome tents which sleep 2 guests each. The tents are comfortably laid out, each on its own individual deck, under the tall trees. The dome tents are furnished with 2 single beds (linen/sleeping bags and pillows provided) and a cupboard to store your torch, bird book and binoculars. The central ablutions are situated to one side of the camp to give privacy and consist of two showers complete with hot water (solar geyser) and two flush toilets.
As Bucklands Rustic Tented Camp is a self catering camp, the fully equipped central kitchen, is perfect for preparing those wonderful camping recipes, and is within close proximity to the communal boma area which boasts a large fire pit for your "talking" fire. Folding camp chairs and tables are provided for the boma or kitchen area, as well as a gas braai and traditional braai to choose from (gas and fire wood are provided). The central kitchen is equipped with a gas fridge, gas cookers, all crockery and cutlery to service the camp. Our friendly housekeeping staff will service the camp daily.
A lovely camping atmosphere is created at night by the use of rechargeable lights, paraffin lanterns, as well as solar lights at Bucklands Rustic Tented Camp. Whilst day time leisure activities maybe relaxing and enjoying your natural surroundings, birding, fishing on the banks of the Great Fish River, scenic walks along the river and to nearby waterholes. Game drives, guided walks etc can be arranged on request, please see details of the activities offered and costs thereof at Bucklands Private Game Reserve. Bucklands Private Game Reserve will transport guests to and from Bucklands Rustic Tented Camp from the Reserves office.

Activities at Bucklands Private Game Reserve include game drives on Bucklands Private Game Reserve (as well as on the 45000 ha neighbouring Great Fish River Reserve); guided walks focussing on the unique subtropical thicket biome, bushman paintings, historical sites, cliff top walks; specialist guided walks focussing on specific fauna and flora in detail; fishing in the Great Fish River; night drives and star gazing; quad bike trails; birding and visit to Grahamstown, Double Drift, and even a private picnic on the beach near Port Alfred can be arranged - a complete holiday package in one of Southern Africa's most beautiful destinations, catering for the whole family.

Bucklands Private Game Reserve lies in the heart of what is known as the Frontier Country and which forms part of a number of tourism routes within the Eastern Cape, rich in both natural diversity and historic feature, as one of the original frontier zones in South African history it was the meeting place of five great cultures in the 18th and 19th centuries with no other part of South Africa being the meeting place of such different cultures for as long as the Eastern Cape has, thereby ensuring an exciting and exhilarating experience for all visitors to the area.
