Fisherman’s Cottage is aptly located in a beautiful, old, Cape Dutch style thatched roof cottage, a stone’s throw form the ocean. With huge bay windows with which to appreciate the endless beauty of the West Coast ocean, the restaurant is more than a culinary joy, but is a respite too.

Owner, Stanley Cierenberg, brought his experiences from his world travels across Europe and America and settled into creating a destination restaurant along the Cape West Coast. Warmed by a large fireplace in winter, and a delightful sunny space in summer, we recommend stopping by for a meal any time of the year but especially during Spring, which is world-famous flower season in Namaqualand.

The menu is authentic and simple, offering starters such as fresh black mussels with wine sauce and mozzarella cheese, or creamy black mussel soup with freshly baked farm bread.

Mains on offer include delicious South African favourites, such as Snoek and chips and Hake with sweet potatoes - all served with salads and vegetables from the garden. Try the mixed Paella, with shellfish, line fish, chicken, bacon with saffron and hand-picked spices, or a local favourite: sardines on fresh farm bread. Order from the buffet beforehand and choose from the buffet. Remember to bring your own drinks, as they are not licensed.
