DESCRIPTION:
Our Guest House sits among ten hectares of mountain top with beautiful vistas of the surrounding farmlands and other hills and mountains, particularly Legogote or “The Lion Head” - a remnant of a long extinct volcanic core.
The indigenous sour bushveld trees and shrubs surround the lodge as do around one hundred species of bird, which are the only source of sound to disturb your peace.
The White River area’s climate is renowned as one of the most congenial in South Africa, and ensures you of a relaxed time with us, with the right combination of luxury indoor and outdoor living, with our lovely rock pool in which to keep cool.
Our Lodge is situated in South Africa’s province of Mpumalanga - “the place where the sun rises” - just 5 km from the small town of White River and 8km from the new Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport with its unique thatched roofed terminal and you can reach White River’s 18 hole Championship Golf Course in ten minutes. A little further away and a twenty minute journey is Nelspruit, the provincial capital city with all modern amenities including a casino. The Kingdom of Swaziland is only an hour’s drive away, and a further hour can see you in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique on Africa’s East coast.
Activities
Closer to our home are the local places of interest, a mere thirty minutes drive taking you into the world renowned Kruger National Park, while the reverse direction, and in the same driving time, finds you up on the Escarpment at 1400m altitude, which is the southern most tip of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, where you will find Blyde River Canyon, the second deepest canyon in the world, Gods Window, and of course the gold rush village, now a national monument, of Pilgrim’s Rest.
The surrounding area provides just about every sporting and leisure activity which may be your pleasure, which we will be happy to advise and arrange for you, even to such activities as trout fishing up on the escarpment and helicopter trips over the main landscape landmarks. Many famous artists have made their home in our area, and high class crafts, curios and artifacts are available.

DIRECTIONS:
From Johannesburg, take the N1 towards Pretoria, then turn onto N4 towards Witbank and carry on that road until you reach Nelspruit.
You will pass the following towns:
Bronkhorstspruit, Witbank, Middleburg, Belfast and Machadodorp.
After Machadodorp there are two ways to reach Nelspruit. You can either carry on the N4 where you will pass Waterval Boven and the Elands Valley or you turn left onto the R539 via Schoemanskloof towards Nelspruit. Both ways come together again about 30km before Nelspruit. The distance on both routes is nearly the same. The scenery is completely different. The R539 goes on top of the mountains and will show you forest, the N4 passes the Elands Valley and brings you into the Lowveld.
Carry on the N4 until you come into Nelspruit. At the first big 4-way junction (robot / traffic light) you have to turn left onto R40 towards White River. There will be the big shopping centre called "Crossing" on your left hand side. Carry on the R40 for about 15km.
After you pass the industrial area "Rocky Drift" you have to turn right onto the R538 towards "Plaston" and "Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport". Carry on that road for about 4km until you come to a 3-way stop. Go over and carry on straight for about 2km.
Then you will find our thatched roof entrance with the White House Lodge sign on your left. Turn in and after 100m you will reach a gate where you have to ring the bell for entrance.
