Experience Swiss/German hospitality with a personal touch at Villa Ticino. Centrally located, in the picturesque, malaria free mountain village of Sabie, Villa Ticino is the ideal base for longer stays to explore the Panorama Route with Blyde River Canyon, Escarpment, Lowveld, many stunning waterfalls, interesting projects and the famous Kruger National Park.

THE VILLA


An alley of lush mature greenery leads the way to the entrance area of Villa Ticino, which is reminiscent of a typical Ticino country village scene with fountain, statues, benches and murals. Your Swiss/German hosts Felix & Ute personally welcome our valued guests. The well established spacious guest house with rustic charm and contemporary chic in an invitingly casual yet elegant ambience offers a cosy honesty bar, an information area, a split-level guest lounge with magazines and an open fire place, a generous veranda with mountain view, lush gardens and a secluded swimming pool for relaxation or a refreshing dip. Enclosed parking (locked during night) is also provided. Our establishment is build on a slope and unfortunately not suitable for disabled people. Children 14 years and older are welcome. For the comfort and wellbeing of our valued guests we regret, no smoking indoors.

GUEST ROOMS


Villa Ticino offers five guest rooms with twin beds and one guest room with a queensized bed each en-suite with their own welcoming charm and thoughtful touches. Five of our light and streamlined guest rooms are tastefully decorated with a Ticino/Mediterranean flair and one guest room is in East-African style with an elegant harmonious contrast. All our guest rooms have high ceilings as well as a private patio or a private balcony. Each en-suite room is equipped with tea/coffee making facility, safe, television, luggage rack, radio alarm, seating area, hairdryer, barfridge, heater, dressing table/desk, ceiling fan and two prong plug.

BREAKFAST


Our popular breakfast, a combination of both cooked and Continental, consists of a daily changing speciality and a buffet with fresh fruits, fruit juices, cereals, yoghurts, a variety of breads with muffins or pastries, cheeses, cold meats, jams as well as choice of teas and our special "Ticino blend" coffee. Breakfast is served from 7h30 to 9h00 in either our Ticino breakfast room with country flair or in warmer weather outside on our generous veranda with garden and mountain views. For privacy table settings are individual in both areas.

LOCATION


Our European styled villa is situated in the centre of the quaint village of Sabie, settled comfortably in a deep valley on an altitude of 1100 m, surrounded by beautiful scenery of green forests, stunning waterfalls and towering mountains. Villa Ticino lies opposite the shopping centre where a SIM-card, mosquito repellent, sun lotion and other useful articles can be obtained for your onwards journey. We are also a short stroll away from the Internet Café, laundromat, banks with ATM machines, post-office, shops, phamracy, petrol station with workshop, 9 hole golf course and a number of fine restaurants. Guests have the choice between classy restaurants to lively pub-style bistros to spoil their tastes and palates. An invitingly friendly atmosphere is perceived in the village of Sabie to linger longer.

ARRIVAL AND SIGHTSEEING


After four to five hours comfortable driving from Johannesburg Airport (360 km) via the scenic Long Tom Pass or one hours drive from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) you will reach Sabie. It is the ideal and central base for extended stays to explore the many popular attractions such as the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window, Graskop, Shangana traditional village, Pilgrim's Rest, lots of waterfalls, Botanical Garden in Nelspruit, Sudwala Caves with a traditional village, Kaapsehoop with wild horses, Cheetah project, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, the Kruger National Park and other projects like the silk farm, the coffee farm or an elephant sanctuary.

We will gladly assist our longer staying guests with comprehensive insider information about our fascinating, but mainly unknown area to discover one of the most beautiful regions in South Africa.

DIRECTIONS:

FROM OR TAMBO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Take the R21 in direction of Boksburg. Then change over to the N12 direction to Witbank and Middelburg (visit the Ndebele village in Botshabelo approx. 20 km outside of Middelburg on the N11). The N12 changes automatically over to N4. From the N4 you take the turnoff left to Belfast onto the R540 in direction of Dullstroom (coffee break) & Lydenburg. In Lydenburg take the R37 via Long Tom Pass to Sabie. At the first stop street in Sabie turn right into Louis Trichardt Street and after 30 m to your right you will see Villa Ticino.

FROM KRUGER MPUMALANGA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
Drive towards Plaston and White River on the R538 and then follow the R40 through White River to Nelspruit and then turn right into the R537 to Sabie at the big intersection. Follow the road until the T-junction and turn left into Sabie. At the first stop street in Sabie turn left again into Louis Trichardt Street where you will see Villa Ticino on the left hand side.

FROM NELSPRUIT AND LONG TOM PASS:
At the first stop street in Sabie turn right into Louis Trichardt Street (signposted). After 30 m you see Villa Ticino to your right side.

FROM HAZYVIEW AND WHITE RIVER:
Drive into Sabie and at the first stop street turn to your left into Louis Trichardt Street (signposted). After a few meters to your left is Villa Ticino.

FROM PILGRIM’S REST AND GRASKOP:
Drive straight through Sabie on the Main Road. After the post-office at the next stop street turn right into Louis Trichardt Street (signposted).
