DESCRIPTION:
Enjoy the warm embrace of The Shamrock Arms - a 4 Star Guest Lodge offering good value, tranquil surroundings and wholesome food.
The lodge was runner-up in the South African Tourism 2010 Welcome Awards. (Lodge category). Finalists are considered to be the cream of the crop of the tourism industry - always hospitable, always professional, and always passionate about delivering service excellence.
LOCATION
The lodge is authentically Victorian and comfortably modern and traces its history back to 1894.
Superbly situated on the Mpumalanga Highlands Meander Route - a mere two and a half hours from Johannesburg - and clasped by the picturesque and historic village of Waterval Boven - gateway to the world-famous Kruger National Park - you are guaranteed a country-village ambience that will soothe your soul.
The Shamrock Arms is unquestionably an ideal stopover for both the business and leisure traveller. It is situated ‘more or less’ half way between Oliver Tambo International Airport (previously known as the Johannesburg International Airport) and the Kruger National Park. This will be of particular interest to travellers, who on arrival at OT International Airport are keen on the idea of getting some ‘mileage’ behind them on the first day so that the drive to the park the next day is not so daunting.
ACCOMMODATION & OTHER FACILITIES
All of the rooms have their own private outside entrance and en-suite bathroom. Free WiFi / internet access in the rooms.
The Luxury Rooms of which there are six, have air-conditioning (hot and cold), electric blanket (optional) satellite TV with decoder, mini bar, tea / coffee facility and electronic safe. You have a choice of either a double bed (king or queen size) or twin beds.
The Deluxe Room (1), which has two twin beds close together, has an overhead fan, heater and tea / coffee facility.
WHAT TO SEE AND DO
The wonderful thing about the Shamrock Arms is that it is the perfect base from which to explore many places of interest and scenic beauty in the Mpumalanga Province. All of the provinces principal tourist attractions are within easy reach of the Shamrock Arms
In and around Waterval Boven you can do: trout / bass fishing, rock climbing and abseiling, mountain biking and hiking and horse riding.
The Shamrock Arms also offers added value in that Terry, who is an accredited and registered tourist guide, is on hand to help you on any tourist related issues.
A sincere and friendly welcome awaits you from your hosts Terry and Cheryl Jansen. |
