DESCRIPTION:
Pemba Lodge offers luxury self catering accommodation in Marloth Park, a proclaimed Nature Conservation Holiday Town sharing a +7km common border (along the Crocodile River) with the Kruger National Park. Pemba Lodge is conveniently located near the Kruger Park's Crocodile Bridge (Komatipoort) and Malelane entrance gates.
The residential area of Marloth has an abundance of game and birds - animals can roam freely in this bushveld township because there are no fences around the individual properties. Resident game species include Impala, Kudu, Giraffe, Waterbuck, Zebra, Hippo, Warthog, etc. Many of these animals (and birds) can be seen while you relax on your thatched lodge private patio / splash pool and braai area. Within Marloth Park, there is a separate nature reserve, Lionspruit, where more dangerous game such as Rhino, Buffalo, Lion and Leopard can be seen.
Accommodation
Pemba Lodge has four bedrooms, two with a double bed and two with two single beds each. In the loft there are also two single beds and a built in bar. All the bedrooms have an air conditioner. There are three bathrooms. The main bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom.
There is a fully equipped kitchen with a stove and microwave and all utensils that are needed. The living area has a TV, DVD player and DSTV is available (bring your own Smartcard). On the outside deck there is a gas braai. The splash pool is directly in front of the house. There is a boma with a barbeque alongside the splash pool.
There is a washing machine that can be used by the guests. Pemba lodge also has a lock up garage for one vehicle.
Wildlife on the Property
There are two water holes in front of the house that look out on the parkland. We have daily visitors at Pemba Lodge like the Kudu, Zebra, Duiker, Impala and all kinds of birds.
We always suggest that our guests bring food for the animals. It just adds to your Marloth experience. Fruit and birdseeds for the birds and mealies for the warthogs, zebras and kudus. We add a game lick and salt block to our premises in the winter, as food is scarce.
Please do not feed the monkeys or baboons, as they can be a nuisance - also always close all windows and doors when leaving the house - they cause a lot of damage when they get in!
Activities
Bird watching, walking, game drives, etc. You can also view game from Marloth's lookout point which has panoramic views over the Crocodile River and into the Kruger Park. Although Marloth has no resident Elephants, they can often be viewed while bathing in the Crocodile River.
