DESCRIPTION:
Big 5 lodge offers a unique and unforgettable African wildlife experience. This haven of beauty and tranquillity offers fully-equipped, self-catering accommodation for 10 guests at an affordable price. Its unique layout allows an intimate bird and animal experience on the downstairs veranda. Here you can be entertained by the mischievous monkeys playing in the trees.
The strikingly beautiful zebra and various antelope including kudu, timid impala and shy bushbuck regularly visit the lodge to drink from the waterhole. Greedy warthogs wait patiently for any scraps that might come their way. Upstairs on the wooden deck you can watch the animals discreetly from above or you can climb up to the viewing deck and marvel at the panoramic views of the surrounding bush field.
Accommodation
The thatched lodge is camouflaged under a canopy of trees offering peacefulness and privacy. It is ideally situated for day trips to the Kruger National Park.
There is an open plan living and dining area downstairs which is furnished with comfortable leather sofas and cane chairs. The warm and earthy colours, combined with animal prints and original pieces of African art create a feeling of luxurious comfort.
The dining area has a dining room table with elegant cane chairs for formal dining and outside there is a dining table and chairs for informal meals. The kitchen is fully-equipped and includes stove, hob, fridge, and microwave.
There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms downstairs. Each bedroom has its own character. The main bedroom has a king size bed draped with soft mosquito netting, adding a romantic touch. This bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet. The other bedroom has two single beds and a full bathroom across the passage including a bath and shower. All linen and towels are provided.
Upstairs there is a TV lounge (offers DSTV select) which is comfortably furnished with cane chairs and a sleeper couch. It opens onto a spacious wooden deck with comfortable chairs and is ideal for stretching out with a good book and soaking up some sun.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The main upstairs bedroom has a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. There is a bedroom with a three quarter bed that leads into this room. The other bedroom has a queen size bed and a full bathroom with shower and bath across the passage.
All the bedrooms have either air-conditioning or fans. All the beds have mosquito nets and there are mosquito screens on all the bedroom windows. There is ample cupboard space in all the bedrooms.
Attention to detail adds those finishing touches and includes fleecy blankets on the beds and hot water bottles for chilly nights.
Facilities
One of the most outstanding features of Big 5 is the number of options it offers guests to either entertain together or escape to privacy and peacefulness. An outdoor thatched boma with a fire pit and braai area, a splash pool, a downstairs verandah and two upstairs decks offer a variety of choices for outdoor entertaining. Indoors you can either socialize downstairs in the lounge or upstairs in the TV room. If its peace and quiet you seek, then retire to the privacy and comfort of your bedroom.
Nights are quiet and possess a rare kind of magic under the canopy of an African sky. The silence is only broken by the grunting of a hippo or the spine chilling roar of a lion.
The lodge is a five minute walk from the Crocodile River. It is here that you can experience the excitement of seeing Africa’s greatest wild animals, the Big 5. It includes the lion, considered the king of beasts, the leopard regarded as the silent hunter, the elephant described as statuesque but graceful, the rhino with its dominant nose horn and the powerful buffalo with its horns of steel. The lodge is named after these magnificent animals.
Big 5 is sure to offer you a relaxing and unforgettable bush holiday. |
