As you arrive at Inyati Private Game Reserve you will be struck by a remarkable feeling of peace and tranquillity. You will meet the genial and well-trained management and staff who will be your hosts for your stay at Inyati. Inyati means buffalo in Shangaan which is the language of the local peoples, and Inyati is home to this powerful, indomitable breed, along with the rest of the Big 5 - elephant, rhino, lion and leopard. These majestic creatures, together with the great variety of other mammal, bird and reptile species found within the reserve, ensure that your safari experience at Inyati will be an outstanding and unforgettable one. In 1996, Inyati embarked on a Habitat Management Programme to ensure that the land (and therefore it’s inhabitants) are affected as little as possible by the impact of our human presence in an otherwise pristine environment. In consultation with top ecologists, natural clearings have been re-established, alien and invading plant species encroachment has been effectively halted, and erosion successfully combated. ACCOMMODATIONOur spacious, luxurious chalets have been extensively refurbished, offering the discerning traveller exquisite accommodation. Inyati also boasts some superb facilities for you to enjoy outside the safari times. These include the curio shop, a small but well-equipped gymnasium, and a walk-in wine cellar well stocked with an excellent selection of South African wines. All this promises you an African affair to remember… GAME VIEWINGGame Drives Game drives are conducted in specially customised open Landrovers, providing our guests with quiet, state-of-the-art comfort and safety on safari. The Inyati safaris take place over 10000 hectares of unspoiled wilderness, and strict regulations are in place to minimise pressure on both the game and the habitat in our sector of the reserve. Each vehicle is manned by a team comprising a qualified Ranger and a highly skilled Tracker. Game drives are conducted throughout the year at optimum viewing times when game activity is generally at its peak, i.e. early morning and late afternoon into evening. The morning safari departs at sunrise, and the evening drive leaves late enough in the afternoon for guests to enjoy a bush sunset, and the opportunity to view nocturnal creatures after dark. The spectacular southern night skies, especially vivid during the winter months, provide guests with stunning views of famous constellations such as the Southern Cross, Orion (in summer) and Scorpio (in winter) on clear evenings. The Bush Walk A must for all nature enthusiasts is the bush walk (i.e., foot safari). This affords guests the ultimate, close-to-the-wild experience, and a chance to focus on the smaller bush inhabitants including birds, insects and butterflies. One can also discover the interesting worlds of trees, grasses, flowers, geology and ecology - of course, occasionally big game can be seen on walks - including the Big 5. Bush walks take place either just before or just after breakfast, depending on the time of year and prevailing weather conditions. Game viewing remains superb all year round - not just on safari, but also at the Lodge, due it’s setting on the banks of the Sand River which attracts game continually. At any time of year, whether on a game drive, bush walk or even on the Lodge patio, your encounters with the wild at Inyati will be very special, and unforgettable. |

DIRECTIONS: From Johannesburg Take the M1 North and just before reaching Pretoria, take the Pietersburg turnoff and follow the signposts to Witbank and the N4. Pass Witbank and continue to Middleburg. From the centre of Johannesburg Take the R22 (N12) to Benoni and pass Witbank and continue to Middleburg. Proceed on the highway past Belfast, Machadodorp, Waterval Boven and Nelspruit. take the R40 to White River (Witrivier). Continue straight down the main road of the town until you reach the traffic lights at the First National Bank, where you must turn left and continue out of town towards Hazyview. Proceed along this road (R40) until you reach Hazyview. Just before reaching the town, you will go down a steep hill towards a T-junction where you must turn left. Proceed through Hazy view until you reach a four way stop with a thatched shopping centre on your right. Turn right here at the Kruger Gate sign, this is the R536, and continue along this road for approximately 34,5km. At this point there is a sign on the left showing Private Game Lodges/Reserves, namely EXETER, IDUBE, INYATI and ULUSABA. Just beyond this first sign there is a large lodge signboard and various smaller signs at the turnoff to the left onto the gravel road. This gravel road does have some potholes and corrugations, please drive carefully. Follow the Private Lodge/Reserve signs for approximately 12km, after which you will arrive at the Newington Gate entrance of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Please note: an entry fee in cash is payable at the gate. Once inside the reserve, follow the Inyati signs for approximately 12km to the lodge.
