High tea consists of a selection of tea, coffee, iced teas and the Lodge's famous breads, nutty wheat, spinach and feta, or a delicious cheese and sundried tomato accompanied with cheeses, figs and preserved ginger, a variety of meats and pickles. Savoury delights and delicious fresly baked cakes are also offered.

After this scrumptious spread, guests leave the high tea table to board the open Land Rover for the evening safari with their experienced Game Ranger and Shangaan Tracker.

An exciting African bush experience in this renowned game viewing area of the Sabi Sand awaits!

As the sun sets, it's time for sundowners in the bushveld whilst listening to the silence of the bush, perhaps interspersed with the chilling roar of a Lion, the whooping of Hyena or a Jackal in the distance. Watch the moon rise, the Milky Way, the night sky and sit in wonder.

It is true that a visit to rural Africa is like a step back in time, where nature rules and mankind is but a spectator.

Driving through the bush at night in search of nocturnal predators, eyes are captured by the tracker's spotlight as he scans the bush. A leopard, a herd of impala, a hunting pride of lions…, the element of surprise is always there.

Every sound, every movement captures one's attention. The bush at night has a life of its own.

On returning to camp, a delicious dinner is served in the boma around a log fire, under a canopy of stars. The three course dinner is a wholesome delight of traditional flavours. The menu is varied with all tastes being catered for. Vegetarians are well catered for, as the veggie dishes are of the freshest and highest standard.

After dinner guests can enjoy tea, coffee, or hot chocolate around a blazing fire listening to the calls of the wild. Guests may be tempted to indulge in a port, brandy or single malt whisky but an all time favourite is Amarula. All to be enjoyed at this world class private safari lodge in South Africa.

All meals are hosted by the family and their staff, and are a social occasion. This gives the guests the opportunity of hearing the bush stories and learning more about the local Shangaan culture.

To end off the day, one can enjoy a relaxing candle-lit bath while listening to the call of the hyena in the background.

Day 2: Sabi Sand Lodge in Greater Kruger National Park
A typical day begins at dawn with a 05h30 wake up call. Guests gather either on the wooden deck to watch the sun rise or in the "boma", under the Marula trees, where tea and coffee are served. Monkeys peer from the branches and watch one's every move with intent curiosity.

After tea, the bushveld is calling as you embark on an early morning game drive with your Ranger and Tracker. There is a possibility of encountering the 'Big Five' - Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo who got their name from the big hunters of old. A close encounter with one of these magnificent creatures is an experience of a lifetime. Also, look out for the small things, the “Little 5” – antLION, RHINOCEROS beetle, Elephant shrew, BUFFALO weaver and the LEOPARD tortoise.

Drinks and a snack are served whilst relaxing by a waterhole. You could be in for a treat, as animals are often observed coming to slake their thirst. Continuing on the game drive, the bushveld will continue to amaze with the various species of animals and birds.

On returning from the morning game drive, guests are treated to a hearty "bush feast" on the deck. Tea, coffee, freshly squeezed orange, grapefruit juice and a colourful fruit salad are also on offer . A variety of yoghurts and cereals accompany the fruit as well as freshly baked cheese or bran muffins. The glorious smells of the hot cheese muffins always seem to entice all the vervet monkeys in the Sabi Sands but somehow they never seem to get their grimy hands on them. A choice of eggs are on offer accompanied by grilled tomato with oreganum, crispy chips, giant black mushrooms done with thyme, crunchy bacon and their world famous sausages. There is a selection of home-made strawberry, gooseberry and marula jams and marmalades.

After breakfast, a Bush Walk offers a closer encounter with the bush, whilst learning about the environment and the wildlife living in it. The armed Game Ranger is knowledgeable in all aspects of conservation, ecology and the environment of the bush. He will show you some of the smaller things - the animal tracks, the diverse array of insects, or even a chameleon waiting in ambush for an insect meal.

The less energetic can relax around the pool with refreshments or one of the Lodge’s famous Pimms from the bar. Or, pamper oneself to a deeply relaxing massage at the the Nature Spa.

From 15h00, activities as Day 1.

Day 3: Sabi Sand Lodge in Greater Kruger National Park
A wake up call before the sun rises beckons the start of a new day in the magical bushveld. Meet for refreshments to watch the sun rise before embarking on a game viewing drive. Predators may be spotted returning from a night of hunting, there are boundless opportunities!

Drinks and snacks are served in the heart of the bush before continuing the game viewing experience. The experienced Ranger and Tracker will follow the spoor and scent of animals, avoiding trees which have been trampled by Elephant, staying on the dirt roads that make their way through the bush.

Return to the Lodge for their renowned delicious and traditional bush breakfast with fresh fruits, yogurts, mueslis and freshly baked muffins followed by eggs of one’s choice, crispy bacon, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, and the Chef’'s speciality of the day.

After breakfast, a walk with an armed Game Ranger is an option for those wanting a closer encounter with the bush, while the day is still cool.

If you have to leave today, check out time is between 11:30 and 12 noon. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
