Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg
Arrive and transfer to The Westcliff hotel for a luxurious overnight stay.

With wealth built on gold, Johannesburg is lively, affluent and cosmopolitan, offering the visitor a tempting array of superb restaurants, elegant designer boutiques and bustling world-class shopping centres. Rooms offer total privacy and most have sunny, private balconies with spectacular views over the Zoological Gardens and the forested northern suburbs of Johannesburg.

Day 2: Johannesburg to MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
After early game viewing and brunch at Eagle Island, fly on to the game rich Khwai area of the Moremi Wildlife Reserve for two nights at Khwai River Lodge. Daily activities include excellent birdwatching and game drives in open-sided vehicles, where the incredible sight of elephant or lion will remain with you forever. Relax with a leisurely afternoon swim in the pool. Guided walks and night-time game drives are also offered. Khwai River Lodge also has its own “Naturally Wild” Spa treatment centre where you can unwind with a relaxing complimentary massage

Day 3: Moremi WIldlife Reserve
Activities at the camp include morning and afternoon game drives in open Land Cruisers. Night spotlight game drives and star gazing presentations are also conducted after dinner.

A cultural visit to a local village can also be arranged, as well as guided safari walks along the Khwai River by one of our experienced team of guides. For those wishing to stay at the camp and relax, Khwai River Lodge, is equipped with a hide overlooking the Khwai floodplains, a swimming pool as well as a gym and spa facility. Guests can enjoy indulgent treatments in the facility or in the privacy of their own tent.

Day 4: Moremi WIldlife Reserve to OKAVANGO DELTA
After breakfast, leave Johannesburg on a scheduled flight to Maun in Botswana, and transfer by light aircraft to Eagle Island Camp. Enjoy two nights at the camp among the prolific birdlife of the island and surrounding Delta. Hear the swish of the paddle and the plop of the Fish Eagle as you take a tranquil mokoro trip through the Delta, water levels permitting

Day 5: OKAVANGO DELTA
Eagle Island Camp’s serene watery base lends itself to quiet relaxation, contemplation and reflection. If, however, you are looking for adventure and excitement then Eagle Island will not disappoint – from walking safaris on surrounding islands, where there is always the possibility of a close encounter, to mokoro and motor boat excursions around the myriad of waterways, the diversity and propensity of the wildlife will fascinate the most seasoned of travelers to Africa. During the months of November through March, when lower water levels make it possible to drive our open 4x4 vehicles off the island, guests can also enjoy the combined excitement of a game drive with water activity.

Day 7: Okavango Delta to Chobe National Park
After early morning game viewing and brunch at Khwai River Lodge, transfer via light aircraft to Savute region of the Chobe National Park an area renowned for its high concentration of elephant and for its dramatic ecosystem. During your two-night stay at the Savute Elephant Camp there are excellent opportunities to experience these grey giants and other large game at close quarters, under the skilled direction of an expert guide. Marvel at the fascinating contrasts in the landscape, which provides a natural habitat to innumerable animals and birdlife. On one evening, enjoy a private candle-lit dinner on your tent deck with our compliments

Day 8: Chobe National Park to Livingstone
After a morning game viewing and brunch, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Kasane. Continue by road to Livingstone for a two night stay at Tongabezi Lodge is situated right on the banks of the Zambezi, a short distance from the Victoria Falls

Travel the grasslands of the gold rich Highveld to the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo. Trundle through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic wine lands of the Cape. Journey’s end is Cape Town, the Mother City of South Africa, cradled by the imposing bulk of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lions Head. Highlights of the north and southbound routes include a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein. This authentic perfectly preserved Victorian Village, which was founded by Mr Logan as a refreshment stop in 1890, also boasts an impressive museum on the platform. A stop is also made in Kimberley providing an opportunity to enjoy a city tour and a visit to the Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole.

Day 13: Cape Town
Time at leisure. Optional activities on offer include a full day visit to Cape Point, the most south-westerly point of Africa, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, or a boat transfer to the infamous prison on Robben Island, whose most famous inmate was Nelson Mandela. Included in your itinerary is a half day city centre tour including Table Mountain and a full day Cape Winelands tour
