Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg International Airport to Drakensberg Mountains, Mpumalanga
We’ll meet your flight at Jo’Burg International airport from where we’ll take a leisurely drive through the highveld plains to the Drakensberg Mountains in Mpumalanga (The Place of the Rising Sun). Along this panoramic route we’ll enjoy some really magnificent scenery, including stops at places like The Three Rondavels, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Gods Window and the spectacular Berlin, Lisbon and Graskop Falls. Our accommodation tonight will be at Autumn Breath, a mountain retreat where ‘the air smells like air and the water tastes like water’.

Overnight: Autumn Breath

Day 2: Drakensberg Mountains, Mpumalanga to Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge
After a typically sumptuous South African breakfast we’ll continue our exploration of the mountains eventually arriving at Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge at about midday.
Ideally situated in a game rich area this unique private game reserve offers en-suite accommodation in reed and thatch tree houses, where you’ll be able to sit on your private balcony and watch the wildlife wonderingly by below – an unforgettable experience. As an exciting option you’ll have the opportunity of game viewing from a micro-lite aircraft (not included in your tour price).

Overnight: Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge

Day 3: Pezulu Tree House Game Lodge to Kruger National Park
A short drive will get us to the Orpen entrance to the Kruger Park in time for an afternoon’s game viewing before checking in at Satara, where we’ll spend the night. Our evening barbecue under the brilliant stars will be accompanied by the compelling sounds of the nocturnal predators. To maximize game viewing opportunities and to vary the vegetation regions, your three nights in Kruger will be spent in two different camps. Tonight, your dinner will take the form of a braai (pronounced br-eye) with your guide being your chef cum waiter cum barman! Your remaining dinners will be in the camp restaurants, as will breakfasts. Lunch stops will be at designated picnic spots where light meals and drinks can be purchased.

Overnight: Kruger National Park

Day 4: Kruger National Park
Tonight you’ll go on a sunset/night drive in an open Parks Board game-viewing vehicle will be included, which will give you the opportunity of seeing some of the nocturnal predators. These three days will be spent driving with your personal Cruiselite guide, game spotting. You can expect to see lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard, crocodile, hippo, giraffe, zebra, warthog, hyena, jackal and a huge assortment of antelope, including impala, kudu, waterbuck, steenbok, bushbuck, klipspringer and wildebeest. The bird life is very prolific and far too numerous to mention by species.

Overnight: Kruger National Park

Day 5: Kruger National Park
We’ll start the day with an early morning game walk accompanied by two armed Rangers will also be included. Although very safe there is a huge difference coming face to face with rhino, elephant etc. while on foot instead of being in the safety and comfort of a vehicle, an experience you will treasure for the rest of your life! The duration of the walk, is about three hours, starting at 05h00.Expect to hear wonderful tales and facts about Africa, the Kruger Park and its wildlife from your guide. You will retire each evening, listening to the primal night sounds of the African bush and know that you are experiencing something truly special.

Overnight: Kruger National Park

Day 6: Kruger National Park to Sandton City
A visit to some of the watering holes on the way out will round off a perfectly splendid adventure in this most amazing Game Park. Although we’ll be taking a different route, we’ll still be able to enjoy some really beautiful scenery on the way back to Jo’Burg. Your accommodation for the next few days will be The Garden Court Sandton City, situated across the road from one of the premier shopping areas in South Africa.

Today we’ll visit Soweto (South Western Township) the political ‘hotspot’ of the 70’s on the way to Lesedi. We’ll enjoy a visit steeped in folklore and ancient traditions, including some really fascinating tribal dancing. This will all be rounded off with a culturally diverse ‘buffet spectacular’.

Day 8: Sandton City to Victoria Falls
Your morning flight will arrive in Victoria Falls at midday. There are few appropriate superlatives that have not already been applied to this spectacular natural wonder of the world; in many ways it defies description. The next three days and two nights will be spent at The Zambezi Sun, a superb hotel on the banks of the magnificent Zambezi River. The entrance to the Falls is only about 200 metres from the hotel, so you’ll be able to visit the Falls as often as you like. Your tour here will include: two nights accommodation, airport transfers, a river cruise and unlimited entry to the Falls (Zambian side). Should you require additional activities (such as helicopter / microlite flights, bungee jumping, big swing etc) these can be arranged and paid for at the hotel reception.

Day 11: Victoria Falls to Cape Town
The next three days will allow you to appreciate the ‘Fairest Cape in all the World’ (as named by Sir Francis Drake). While in Cape Town our guests generally prefer to have time for their own exploration, sight seeing, shopping, strolling down the beach / promenade, choosing a restaurant from the huge selection available for their favoured cuisine, or just simply ‘lounging around’. We have therefore allowed for two full days of tours, to be discussed with our tour people when you arrive and chosen from a ‘menu’. Full or half day tours of the Cape winelands are not to be missed. Other tours could include: the Cableway ride to the top of Table Mountain, Chapman’s Peak Drive, The Twelve Apostles, Cape Point, the Penguins at The Boulders, Sea Point, Clifton, a ‘Township’ tour and the now famous V & A Waterfront. A boat trip to the historic Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years, is always a very moving experience.

Overnight: The Portswood Hotel, V&A Waterfront

Day 14: Cape Town to Wilderness
You’ll leave Cape Town in the morning for a scenic drive to Knysna in the Garden Route. The drive will go via Oudtshoorn for a visit to the famous and ancient Cango Caves. Your accommodation for the next two nights will be at the luxurious Mes Amis Guest House, After checking in you’ll have time to enjoy the sunset ‘John Benn Featherbed’ cruise on the Knysna lagoon.

Overnight: Mes Amis Guest House, Wilderness

Day 15: Wilderness to Tsitsikamma National Park
This morning you’ll be able to explore the Knysna Heads before you continue your Garden Route experience on the way to Plettenberg Bay and the Tsitsikamma Forest. Your accommodation for tonight will be at the Storms River Mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park where you’ll be able to watch dolphins surfing while listening to the seldom seen Knysna Lourie calling from the tops of the Yellowwood trees in the forest. If you’d like some exercise, you’ll also be able to choose from many wonderful walking trails in the forest.

Overnight: Storms River Mouth, Tsitsikamma National Park

Day 16: Tsitsikamma National Park to Port Elizabeth
Today your African experience sadly comes to an end (for now). You’ll have the whole morning to enjoy an easy boardwalk in the forest and / or take a dip in the warm, placid Indian Ocean waters. There are many other attractions in the area, such as the Aerial Forest Tour or horse riding. Your afternoon flight from Port Elizabeth will ensure that you are in plenty of time to check in for your homeward bound from Johannesburg.
