This 4-day itinerary starting Cape Town and ending Port Elizabeth (or the other way round), includes touring the Klein Karoo along the scenic Route 62, spending a night in Oudtshoorn - the "Ostrich or Feather Capital of South Africa and 2 nights in Knysna. This tour can be arranged as a "self-drive" or "guided" itinerary. As all our itineraries are tailor-made, this tour can be extended to include other parts of the country as well.

Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn
Leaving Cape Town your overland tour starts by travelling to Worcester and Robertson. We then continue along the scenic Route R62 to Oudtshoorn – the “Ostrich or Feather Capital of South Africa”, by travelling via Barrydale, Ladismith and Calitzdorp. This is a lesser known but far more scenic route than the N2 route usually travelled. An early morning start is recommended as there are quite a few interesting stops along the route such as the unique pub “Ronnies Sex Shop” near Barrydale, Seweweekspoort near Ladysmith, Boplaas Port in Calitzdorp, etc. Spend the night at a luxury Country Lodge on a working farm in the Schoemanskloof.

Day 2: Oudtshoorn to Knysna
After a hearty farm breakfast and should you be interested we can stop for a Cango Caves and Ostrich Farm tour. Leaving Oudtshoorn, we continue towards the Knysna by travelling down the beautiful Outeniqua Pass, George, Wilderness on the coastline and Sedgefield. Knysna - nowadays one of the most sought after holiday towns on the Garden Route - is situated on a lake with a rocky entrance to the sea called “The Heads”. Here we spend two nights in a luxury Lodge or Hotel

Day 3: Knysna
Spend another day in Knysna doing scenic drives to the Heads and/or to Coney Glen – a scenic viewpoint above The Heads or visiting the lovely beaches in the closely situated Plettenberg Bay or Brenton-on-Sea. Alternatively, spend the day relaxing at the hotel or visit the closely situated Knysna Waterfront and various shopping malls with many restaurant and coffee shop options.
Overnight: B&B accommodation
Day 4: Knysna to Port Elizabeth
Continue your overland tour to the drop-off point in Port Elizabeth. En-route stop at the scenic Storm’s River situated in the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park
