The 15-day itinerary below starting in Johannesburg and ending in Cape Town, includes a drive-through Johannesburg city tour, touring the scenic Panorama Route in the Mpumalanga Province, “Big Five” game viewing in the Kruger National Park, visiting Swaziland, “Big Five” game viewing and sightseeing in KwaZulu Natal, touring along the Cape Garden Route, the Winelands and Cape Town. This tour can also be arranged as a lower priced "self-drive" for smaller groups (dates flexible) and can also be done the other way round.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Johannesburg International Airport to Johannesburg
Arrive Johannesburg International Airport and transfer to a closely situated countryside hotel. Depending time of arrival an afternoon Johannesburg drive-trough city tour is included.

Day 2: Johannesburg to Hazyview,Mpumalanga
We start our overland our tour to the Mpumalanga Province. En-route, stop at Dullstroom - a quaint little fly-fishing village. Spend the night at Forever Resorts Blyde Canyon.
Overnight: B&B accommodation including light lunch

Day 3: Blyde Canyon, Mpumalanga to Kruger National Park
Continue to Hazyview via the Blyde River Canyon, Graskop, Pilgrim's Rest - a historical gold-mining villge and Kowyns Pass. Travelling along the scenic Blyde River Canyon includes stopping at viewpoints such as the Three Rondawels, World’s End, the Potholes and God’s Window. Depending availability of accommodation we spend two nights at one of the Kruger Park camps or a closely stuated Country Lodge from where we do the game drives.

Day 4: Kruger National Park
Spend the day doing game viewing drives in the Kruger Park.

Day 5: Kruger National Park to Swaziland
Leaving the Kruger Park/Hazyview, we continue the overland tour to Matsamo borderpost where we enter the Royal Kingdom of Swaziland. En-route to Foresters Arms - a lovely hotel situated in the Swaziland forestry region where we spend the night, stop at the Ngwenya Glass where you can witness the magical art of glassblowing.

Day 6: Swaziland to Bonamanzi Game Park in KwaZulu-Natal
Leaving Foresters Arms we stop at the Swazi Candle factory before re-entering South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal via the Lavumisa borderpost. Check-in at Bonamanzi Game Park where we spend two nights.

Day 7: Bonamanzi Game Park
Spend the day doing game viewing in the closely situated Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Reserve and/or visiting the Lake St Lucia estuary - one of South Africa's "World Heritage Sites"

Day 8: Bonamanzi Game Park to Port Elizabeth
Transfer to Durban Airport and board a mid-day flight to Port Elizabeth on the Eastern Cape coastline. Transfer to the Protea Edward hotel where we spend the night.

Day 9: Port Elizabeth to Knysna
We continue our overland tour to Knysna along the Garden Route. En-route, we turn-off to the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park for a visit to the scenic Storm's River. Knysna - nowadays one of the most sought after holiday towns on the Garden Route is situated on a lake with a rocky entrance to the sea called “The Heads”. Spend two nights at the Knysna Log-Inn hotel.

Day 10: Knysna
Spend another day doing sightseeing in and around Knysna or relaxing at one of the beautiful beaches of Plettenberg Bay/Brenton-on-Sea.

Day 11: Knysna to Oudtshoorn
Leaving Knysna we head for Oudtshoorn – world wide renowned for ostrich farming. The route followed is via Wilderness, George and up the scenic Outeniqua Pass. Included is a guided Ostrich farm tour and a visit to the Cango Caves – a natural wonder situated in the scenic Schoemanskloof. Spend the night at De Opstal Country Lodge.

Day 12: Oudtshoorn to Cape Town
We continue our overland tour to Cape Town along the scenic Route R62. The route followed is via Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Barrydale, stopping at “Ronnies Sex Shop”, Montagu and Merwenstein Wine Estate near Bonnievale for lunch. Continue to Cape Town via Ashton, Robertson and Worcester. Check-in at a hotel near the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront where you spend the last three nights of the tour.

Day 13: Cape Town
Our full-day scenic Cape Peninsula tour includes travelling along the coastal route via Sea Point, Bantry Bay, Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno, Hout Bay, Cape Point, the Cape of Good Hope, Simon’s Town, a visit to the Boulders Penguin Colony and time depending, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

Day 14: Cape Town
We do a full-day winelands tour in and around Franschhoek and Stellenbosch - two of the oldest towns in South Africa. During the tour we stop in Franschhoek - a beautiful town situated in the center of the winelands with a rich cultural and historical heritage dating back to 1688 when some 200 French Huguenots were apportioned land in the district to visit the Huguenot Monument and browsing the many art galleries and interesting shops. En-route to Fairview Wine Estate where we do a wine and cheese tasting, we drive by the Victor Verster Prison from where Nelson Mandela walked as a free man after spending nearly 28 years on Robben Island, This is followed by a picnic lunch under the trees at the Boschendal Wine Estate. Returning to Cape Town, stop in Stellenbosch – famous for its Afrikaans University.

Day 15: Cape Town
End your South African tour with a cableway trip up Table Mountain, a view from Signal Hill, a drive-through city tour and visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (if not done on day 13). Transfer to the Cape Town International Airport.
