At a Glance
Day 1: Port Elizabeth to Graaff Reinet
Leave PE at 07:00. Travel to Graaff Reinet for tea.Continue through the Karoo to Victoria West, our lunch stop, and on to Williston for our first night's stop. Dinner at ‘The Ark’, overnight Williston B&B.
Day 2: Graaff Reinet to Vredendal
Explore Calvinia, Hantam House, biggest post box, museum in synagogue. Visit Niewoudtville waterfall – 60m high- and off to Kokerboomwoud. Return to Niewoudtville for tea at Ebernezer Hall and south to small village of Maatjiesfontein. Pass glacial pavement then on to van Rhynsdorp. Largest Succulent Nursery in world. Drive past Gifberg then on to Vredendal, for 2 nights at Vredendal Hotel.
Day 3: Vredendal
We head North for Namaqua National Park. Tea at Skilpad padstal. On to Springbok and Goegab Nature Reserve for different varieties of flowers, followed by Nababeep. Return to Vredendal via Bushmen headquarters at Ratelgat.
Day 4: Vredendal to Wupperthal
Visit the old DRC where all the wild flowers of the area are displayed. Go to Ramskop Nature Reserve and Pakhuis Pass if flowers are good here. Visit Rooibos Tea Factory. Continue on to Wupperthal. Overnight at Goedgedacht, near Riebeek Kasteel
Day 5: Wupperthal to .
Explore the West Coast National Park flowers near Langebaan and Pater Noster. Overnight at Goedgedacht. Lunch and show, ‘Adapt or Fly’, at Evita se Peron
Day 6: . to Mathjiesfontein
We now go south to Tulbagh and Ceres. We then head for Matjiesfontein where we spend the night at the Lord Milner Motel.
Day 7: Matjiesfontein to Port Elizabeth
Return to PE via Prince Albert for breakfast, Swartberg Pass and Outshoorn.Then Langkloof route to PE via Joubertina, where the fruit trees may be in full bloom.
