The Cadiz Freedom Swim is considered to be one of the toughest, most extreme long distance cold water sea swim races in the world - 7.5km across the famous Robben Island channel, known for its bitterly cold water (+/- 13 to 14 degrees) and strong, unpredictable currents.
The swim takes place in the water channel between Robben Island and Big Bay mainland, where the cold water creates the extreme factor. Average water temperature is usually around 13C / 55.4F.
Since it is open to the vast Atlantic Ocean, swimmers frequently experience swell and chop similar to the English Channel.
To ensure the safety of all participants and support crew, entries will be limited so it is important to book early to secure your spot.
