Stanford Bird Fair
When: Dates to be confirmed (Sunday, 30 September 2012 to Tuesday, 02 October 2012)
Where: Stanford
Categories: Annual Festivals / Fauna & Flora / Outdoor Events
Apart from putting together a clutch of top-class birding experts we have decided to include some non-birding events of an ecologically-important nature such as the fascinating Strandloper caves at De Kelders. Children from local schools will enjoy the ever-popular Eagle Encounters as well as a show by hand puppets and a accompanying workshop.
In addition to birding trips along the Kleinrivier as different times during the fair, the Apex Predator will again be in action from Kleinbaai on the morning of 30th September. Later that day, the festive gin tasting provided by our sponsors will be held at the Art Gallery and this will be followed by the results and prize giving for the annual photographic competition. Pippa Parker of Struik Publications will then give a brief presentation on the latest Sasol Bird Guide and last but not least, the famous Stanford Farmers' Market will be in full swing on the Village Green from 18h00.
In order to raise funds for the local Rotary an evening of soup, sherry and song will be held in the NG Kerksaal on Saturday, 1st October after the NG Kerk Bazaar which also incorporates a wildflower show and potkiekos competition.
Venue: Queen Victoria Street, Stanford
