Napier will be in festive mood again at their annual Patat Festival. The festival boasts one of the most beautiful but also challenging half marathons and a scenic mountain bike race. Close to a hundred stalls will be scattered around the peripheral of the last lap for the runners and cyclists.
Local wine and beer can be sampled while having a birdís eye view of the activities. The Napier Patat Festival will not be true to form without a stall selling plates of food with soet patat and snoek. All nine restaurants in this tiny but quaint village will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the weekend and Napier will again prove itself worthy of its accolade as the food capital of the Cape Overberg.
Once again, there will be the ever popular open gardens, an art ramble to showcase our local talent, a splendid display of vintage cars, tractors and trucks, a quaint parade through town. So book your table for lunch early to secure a seat on the verandah of one of the local restaurants.
As always, this is a great chance to experience a weekend away from the city in the heart of the Overberg amongst the rolling hills of wheat and canola, with fresh air, blue skies and the friendliness of small town inhabitants.
Napier Patatfees MTB Challenge:
As opposed to the last two years, we now have professional organisers, route builders and sponsors. There will be a 30km and 60km routes.
The start is a long lung busting climb followed by jeep track through fynbos and then onto district roads before taking you back through spectacular farmlands and up and over the mountain in the case of the 60km.
