Hout Bay Sandcastle Competition in Hout Bay

Now in its 16th year, join the families and friends of Valley Pre-primary School in Hout Bay for their annual Sandcastle Competition. Haul out your buckets and spades and head down to Hout Bay beach for the annual Sandcastle Competition and you’ll be making a difference to the lives of children.

Funds raised at this annual competition go toward improving facilities and sponsoring underprivileged children at Valley Pre-Primary school and Hout Bay Educare Centre in the Hangberg area.

Members of the public that would like to support the event but prefer not to compete, can buy raffle tickets, support the food and drink stalls and cheer the contestants on. The date is chosen to coincide with low tide so there will be loads of space for builders and people watchers. Fantastic prizes are awarded to winners in each category as selected by celebrity judges.

You can register on the day, at the Chapmans Peak side of Hout Bay Beach at 08h30, for the chance to win some amazing prizes and have a fun-filled family day at the Beach. The competition starts at 09h30 and runs until 13h00.

Entry fees are R30 an adult and R15 a child. Corporate team entries cost R700. Companies can sponsor Sonwabile teams of children from local development projects in Hout Bay for R700. School teams competing in the interschool category pay R150.
