Flower Power Festival in Shelley Point

The flower season on the West Coast is once again upon us and the scene is set for another spectacular splash of spring flowers! An easy hour to two hours drive north from Cape Town on the R27; it isn't hard to believe why the flowers season has become one of South Africa's most popular natural events, drawing visitors from across the globe to this once unknown region with unrivalled geographical diversity.

Shelley Point Hotel, Spa & Country Club will host their second annual Flower Power Festival on the 26th - 28th August 2011 which allows visitors to the area a chance to discover the West Coast atmosphere during this magical time and, of course, enjoy the beauty of the wild flowers in bloom.

Situated in Shelley Point near St Helena Bay, the Flower Power Festival will cater for even the most discerning visitor with activities including: flower tours to the Hopefield Fynbos Show, adventure and sports in the form of golf, hiking and bicycles trails and horse riding on the beach for the outdoor enthusiasts. Entertainment provided at the property includes a food & wine fare, a flower & craft market and a full weekend of planned kid's activities themed around the flowers - Rocky the Penguin from SANCOB will also be paying the kids a special visit on Saturday, 27th August. A flower art competition will be held on the Saturday where internationally acclaimed Chelsea Flower Show judge and distinguished orchids grower, Michael Tibbs, will enhance entrant's flower arranging skills and nominate an overall winner.

To unwind after a day of full filled activities and sightseeing, a Carvery will tantalise visitor's taste buds; while a live band, Generations, will help get you in the mood for a groovy Flower Power 60's party.
