Durbanville Beer Fest in Durbanville

Its origins may not be from the Champagne valley of France, the bubbles not as fine, and the glass used not as sleek, yet it is used on more celebratory occasions than any other.

To celebrate the true culture of South Africans, we bring you the Durbanville Beer Festival. This year promises to be an even bigger event showcasing more live bands, beer stalls and food stalls. This is a family event, with lots of entertainment for the kids.

The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is on board this year raising funds with a, Anything That Floats Race. Homemade, muscle powered craft with the maximum of six crew will compete on a demarcated course to become the 2011 Durbanville Beer Festival Champs.

The Durbanville Beer Festival showcases beers from South Africa's Craft breweries to the larger commercial brew masters bringing all beer lovers together to appreciate the fine craft of beer making.

Where else to hold such an event, but on one of Durbanville's most prestigious wine estates, Hillcrest. Hillcrest is home to one of the most beautiful event hosting venues, the Quarry. The Quarry boasts beautiful rolling lawns and a crystal clear lake, the ideal spot to host a "anything that Floats Race. The safety of this event will be closely monitored by the Melkbos National Sea Rescue Institute and will benefit from all proceeds of this event.

Live Rock and Blues bands will keep all entertained with Rock 'n Roll DJ's keeping the crowd rocking throughout the day while rivers of beer will keep your thirsts quenched. Full bar facilities will be available throughout the course of the event.

Gates will open at 10h00 so as to patch ant holes in you homemade craft before you set sail and will close down at 20h00 as the Cape Town sun sets.
