When: Saturday, 13 October 2012
Where: Muizenberg, Cape Town
Categories: Outdoor Events / Sporting Events
Dragon Boats have been around for over 2400 years when they originated in China, however were only introduced into South Africa in 1992. The Cape of Good Hope Rotary Club is urging companies and other Rotary clubs to take part in their Annual Dragon Boat Festival Regatta, this is their third event and it promises to be lots of fun. The event takes place at the Zandvlei inland waterway at Muizenberg.
Each team is made up of 10 novice paddlers and an experienced helsman who steers the boat in the right direction, the paddling should happen in unison to the drum beat. Four boats take place in each heat which will ensure the final has spectators on the edge of their seats.
