Classic Car and Bike Show
Classic Car and Bike Show

On Saturday 22 January 2011, the International Police Association will celebrate the Start of a New Decade when the 11th Annual Classic Car & Bike Show opens its gates to the public. Established as a fundraiser, this event is not only one of the highlights of the IPA calendar, it has become something of an institution here in the Cape amongst nostalgia buffs and fans.

Held annually, it features some of the rarest and most beautiful cars and bikes in the Cape and is one of only a handful of exhibits on this scale. Over the past 10 years, we have seen a tremendous growth in numbers of both exhibitors and attendees. There have also been some changes to the format, with the first two day exhibition held in 2007 with great success.

As an International Non-Profit organisation, it is important for the IPA to make a difference in our local community and this show has provided an opportunity to not only educate and entertain, but also to effect real changes in people’s lives. Over the years, this event has raised more than R120 000 for various charities, with donations totaling more than R18 000 handed over so far in 2010 alone.

Saturday 22 January - Modern Classics
On day one of the Show, the exhibition will consist of vehicles which can be defined as ‘Modern Classics”. These include Hot Rods, Street Rods, souped up vehicles, racing cars and bikes, custom vehicles and motorcycles and of course, a few new cars and bikes! This is a day that will appeal to many motoring enthusiasts, but it is important to note that there are usually no really old or “conventional” Classic vehicles on display.

Sunday 23 January - Classics
On day two of the Show, the exhibition will consist of vehicles dating from as far back as the late 1890’s, to more recent times. These are the classics that invoke an era of elegance, a more relaxed way of life and a time when craftsmanship was an important element of vehicle design and manufacture. This is always a popular display and will appeal to anyone with a love of restored and maintained classic vehicles.

Bring the Family!
As always, we strive to make this a day that can be enjoyed by the whole family - young and old. There will be plenty of refreshments available, with a number of food stalls to tickle the taste buds, cool drinks to banish thirst and our ever popular, well shaded beer garden. When possible, we try to supply a big screen for any sporting events and there is always a jumping castle to entertain the kids.

New in 2011!
There will be no on-site parking, parking has been arranged at Timour Hall Primary at the top of Timour Hall Road. Only disabled parking will be allowed on-site, with spill-over parking in the surrounding area. The event runs each day from 10am until 4pm, tickets will be R20 per person, with children under the age of 12 free.

The Charity
This is the main IPA Fundraiser for the year, with money raised going not only to our own internal development projects, but as always, to a main charity which will be selected by our committee. This will be confirmed on our website nearer the time. For all enquiries, please contact Jo on 021 797 2582.

Back by Popular Demand
Following on the success of the inclusion of the Auto Jumble Sale in the Car Show, we have again invited them to join us. This is always a treasure trove of parts, tools, magazines and collectibles. Well worth a visit.

AND ....
There will be a motorcycle jumble on the motorcycle display field on the Sunday!
