In many cultures around the world the annual tradition of a community festival - celebrating leadership, lifestyle, community spirit, cultural creativity, empowerment, achievement, entrepreneurship, prosperity, excellence and sporting prowess – is joyfully observed. ALP is working with the Khayelitsha Development Forum and other representative bodies in the Cape Flats to ensure that they play an active part in the Festival and that their communities are the principal beneficiaries. Following the success of the Soweto Festival, now in its fourth year, ALP is expanding the model to Khayelitsha while ensuring the Cape Town event retains its own unique flavour.
The Festival will combine a large exhibition where small businesses and corporates will stand side by side, a Youth Expo, an entertainment programme featuring all the popular musical genres, fashion shows which showcase established and emerging local talent, as well as a host of activities and promotions designed to attract all age groups. One of the principal aims of the festival is to provide a platform for SMMEs to do business and expand their market reach, both to local consumers and the large number of outside visitors to the Festival.
Potential sponsors, exhibitors, small businesses, local NGOs, performers and other participants are invited to contact ALP for more information.
