Glenwood Festival

When: Friday, 14 September 2012 to Sunday, 16 September 2012
Where: Glenwood
Categories: Annual Festivals / Concerts & Shows

The sixth annual Glenwood Festival offers a busy weekend of music, civic, sports and spiritual events to be held in and around Durban’s thriving suburb of Glenwood.

The proactive Glenwood Community Forum believes this bustling suburb is “A good place to live, work, educate and raise a family”. To this end, they are hosting a weekend festival with events on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.

The Festival starts on Friday evening with the Glenwood Community Proms. The Durban City Orchestra presents a musical feast for the whole family at Glenwood Prep School. Special guest performances will surprise everyone. Bring your picnic baskets, camp chairs and blankets.

Saturday has lots of sports and fun events for the young people of Durban. Starting at 7am with the Life Entabeni Hospital 5km Fun Walk and Run from Stella Club, followed by the Waltons “Back-to-School” Treasure Hunt in Bulwer Park, with over 100 prizes to be claimed. The Artists in Action and Annual Glenwood Chess Challenge is on at Glenwood Prep. The Camelot College Craft Market, also at Glenwood Prep, will once again have lots of interesting craft goods on sale.

A highlight of the sporting programme is the East Coast Radio Adidas All-Star Soccer Team taking on the Glenwood All-Star Soccer team, also at Glenwood Prep. The Adidas All-Stars will be out to avenge last year’s loss!

After last year’s great success, The Food Lover’s Market will be run again on Sunday morning in Bulwer Park. Stall holders selling unique types of food, from specialist gourmet meats, olives, breads and lots of special dishes, will be there.
