Taking place in Estcourt, this is a circular route around the Wagendrift Dam and although it’s a tough event it does take in the beauty of the Drakensberg Mountains, the infamous Poort and the ’Nine Hills’.

It’s a pretty race with the cosmos out in all its glory and the game reserve surroundings give the event a country feel. The organizers have cut a 500m path through the bush just to let runners experience the power of the Bushmans River flowing over the dam wall!

This is a race off the beaten track and is a very welcome change from the normal tarred road running race. This is a Comrades qualifier with times taken at the marathon mark although you must finish the full distance. There is also a social 10km race and a walk to the dam wall.
