Bearing Man Stainbank Cup 15km and 5km
When: Dates to be confirmed (Wednesday, 05 December 2012)
Where: Yellowwood Park
Categories: Marathons & Half Marathons / Sporting Events
The race becomes a bit of an uphill challenge once you enter the reserve and hit the sand roads and trails. You will have respite from the summer heat though when running around the dam and through the cool, leafy tunnels in the reserve. Keep your eyes open for animals such as zebra, antelope, buck and monkeys. The last five kilometres are run through the shaded streets of Yellowwood Park. This race is known for the very festive watering tables and the enormous support from the residents of Yellowwood Park; live entertainment and a great party atmosphere await you at the finish. Walkers are well accommodated too with category prizes award in this part of the event as well. There are lots of other spot prizes for runners and walkers alike.
Entries are taken on the afternoon before the race and again on the day of the race from 5am. The race was first run in 1973 and has, over the years, become one of the most popular and festive events on the KwaZulu Natal road running calendar. There is a fun run.
