Nestled between sea, mountain and lake, Whales and Sails offers accommodation in Hermanus that is perfectly positioned for family adventures. A short walk from Blue Flag Grotto Beach, the famous Hermanus Cliff Path and the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, it is a prime location for beach holidays, whale-watching and hiking.

Self Catering Accommodation

Whales and Sails is a holiday home in Hermanus. The bedrooms each have spacious cupboards and a view of the mountain and the main bedroom offers a King-size bed and a cosy nook with two armchairs for a private cup of tea and a book. The second bedroom has a Queen-size bed and the third room contains two single beds. A single sleeper couch is also available in the living room. The stunning bathroom is fitted with a large shower, freestanding luxury bath and towels provided. Two guest toilets are available, one of which is disabled-friendly.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, large microwave, electric and gas hob kettle, toaster, large fridge with freezer, and all the cutlery, crockery and cookware you will need. Tea, coffee and sugar supplied. Guests have access to laundry facilities with a washer and dryer. The spacious living area offers a breathtaking view of the mountains, a 6-seater dining room table and a comfortable lounge area with a TV and My Family Cinema, with access to the most popular shows and movies. Free uncapped Wi-Fi is provided.
An office space with a large desk, a mini-gym and safes for valuables are also available.

There is a lovely outside patio with a hammock and picnic table for morning coffee in the fresh air. An enclosed backyard, which is shared with the host, is available for guests to share and guests can take out the two kayaks or make use of the braai facilities. The entire home is wheelchair friendly with ramp access and secure parking for one vehicle is available inside a private garage. Additional parking for up to three cars is available.

Pets

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. All pets must be socialised, house trained and not destructive or noisy. Your host and his dog live in a cottage on the premises and share the garage and back yard.

Attractions

Voëlklip is the premier suburb of Hermanus, nestled between towering mountains and one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in South Africa. Grotto Beach is perhaps the finest of the 4 Blue Flag beaches in Walker Bay. Far from the bustle of town central, this area is quiet, peaceful and safe. Just up the hill are hikes and mountain bike tracks, and just down the hill are the river mouth and beach. Around the bend, the magnificent Kleinrivier Lake opens up before you.

Grotto Beach, a few minutes walk from Whales and Sails, has pristine clean white sand and is perfect for swimming. In season, Grotto Beach is a kitesurfing hotspot. The cliff path, which sets off from central Grotto Beach, offers some of the most magnificent views you will find on the Cape coastline and is excellent for whale viewing in season.
