Not only does the little farming town of Bloemhof (flower capital or court) lie on the Vaal River, it also rests right up against a large dam known as the Bloemhof Dam - a major fisherman's paradise, especially for carp and fish cat, and somewhere you can definitely see a number of antelope and at least 250 species of bird. Directions from Kimberly Airport:
1. Take Maroela St to Oliver Rd/N8 for 3 minutes (1.2 km).
2. Head northwest on the restricted usage road, going through 1 roundabout for 150 m.
3. Continue onto Maroela St (partial restricted usage road) for 1.1 km.
4. Follow N12 to R34 in Bloemhof for 1 hour 49 minutes (172 km).
5. Turn left onto Oliver Rd/N8 for 4.0 km.
6. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Memorial Rd for 800 m.
7. Turn left onto Du Toitspan Rd for 850 m.
8. Continue onto Quinn St/N12 for 1.3 km.
9. Turn right onto Phakamile Mabija Rd/N12 and continue to follow N12 for 165 km.
10. Follow R34 to your destination for 1 minute (600 m).
11. Turn left onto R34 for 600 m.
12. Turn left; the destination will be on the left.
