Directions to The Place

From Cape Town:
Head towards the R62 either via Worcester on the N1 or via the Tradouw Pass from the N2 (please let me know if you need more detailed directions for this part of the journey), 61km after Barrydale, follow signs for Riversdale R323. Turn right here. Travel for 11km towards Riversdale on the R323 till you get to a right turn signposted Buffelsdrif. Turn right here. (please don’t confuse this turn with the left turn to Buffelsdrift off the R62!). Please SMS me from Montagu if possible so that we know when to expect you!

From Oudtshoorn direction via R62:
Exactly 15km after Ladismith follow signs for Riversdale R323. Turn left here. Travel for 11km towards Riversdale on the R323 till you get to a right turn signposted Buffelsdrif. Turn right here. Please SMS me from Calitzdorp if possible so that we know when to expect you!

From the N2 via Riversdale and Garcia Pass:
Once over the pass, you will see Muiskraal Olive Farm on your left, go past the Nature College, over the bridge over the Touw River, past the crossing that says Vanwyksdorp / Kromkloof right and Ockertskraal left – keep going for approximately 27km. One km after the Vanwyksdorp / Kromkloof right and Ockertskraal left crossing, turn left at the sign Buffelsdrif. Please only take the Ockertskraal turn if you have a bakkie – the road is not so good – if you do take it, travel on the main track for 3km, past the lucerne fields, the road bends to the right, go past three abandoned buildings and a left bend and then straight on through a gate (usually open) – you’ll see our farm house ahead after exactly 3km. Please SMS me from Riversdale if possible so that we know when to expect you!

From the turn off the tar road:
You will see a gabled house directly ahead of you on the left of the road. Go past this house, its gate and its carport and directly after the carport, you will see another farm gate on your left. Turn left here (open and close the gate). This turn is no further than 200m from the tar road! The small track quickly improves after about 100m. Travel for 1km till you arrive at another gate. You have now arrived at The Place!

Travel for about another 900m to a third gate. You will see our dam on your left. Go through this gate and you will see our house straight ahead of you. I will come out when you arrive and direct you to the flat. Our two border collies are very friendly and safely behind a fence.

There is cellphone reception all the way along the farm road - please feel free to contact me any time should you feel unsure about where you are heading.
