• Take exit 194 for R74 toward R103 Bergville

Alternate Route to Sungubala – N3 via Bergville:
The R74 abandoned roadworks is not suitable at night or for cars with low profile tyres or without good clearance. If you dont want to use the R74, please use the alternate route through Bergville. Note that this does not apply if you are travelling from Durban / KZN. This only applies for travelers from Gauteng or the Freestate.

N3 to Bergville, back to Sungubala:
• Arrive in Harrismith
• Drive on toward Ladysmith (N3)
• After 53km follow the original N3 not the alternate route
• After another 17km take the off ramp and turn right toward Bergville
• Drive 33km to Bergville
• Turn right toward Harrismith
• Drive 30km to the Northern Berg turn off
• Turn left
• Travel 7km
• Turn right towards The Cavern / Alpine Heath
• Travel 9,7 km
• Turn right at Royal Drakensberg School
• Travel 1,7 km on a dirt track to the camp

Sungubala to Harrismith via Bergville and N3 toll:
• Arrive at R74 from Sungubala
• Turn right to Bergville
• Travel 30km
• At Bergville turn left towards Ladysmith
• Travel 33km
• At N3 take left on ramp to Toll N3 North
• Travel 17km
• Pay Toll
• N3 joins the alternate route from Ladysmith
• Travel up Van Reenens Pass
• After 53km arrive in Harrismith and continue your journey
