Perlemoen Holiday House & Cottage is a 3 star graded property offering Onrus accommodation for tourists and visitors of Cape Overberg.

About Perlemoen Holiday House & Cottage

Situated in the small picturesque village of Onrus River, 120 km from Cape Town and 5 km from Hermanus, this unique triple storey dwelling, designed by the artist owner, is your ultimate destination for an unforgettable holiday or weekend getaway. Located on the peninsula of this seaside resort it is only five minutes walk to Onrus beach and lagoon, with splendid views of the sea, the mountains and the magnificent sunsets.

The completely detached and private house is fully equipped. The interior is interestingly decorated with artefacts and features original paintings by South African artists. For privacy and safety the property is completely walled in. The owner, Suzette, who lives on the adjoining property, is available to attend to the needs of guests

The house has been designed to comfortably accommodate any number of persons from 2 to 16, thus allowing for extended groups of family and friends. It is ideally suited for 12 adults and 4 children over the age of 6 (due to the water feature), but smaller groups are equally welcome. Six individually styled bedrooms can accommodate 12 people and a further four beds are available on two landings. Seven bathrooms service the house.

Main House and Adjoining Cottage
The main house has three en suite bedrooms on three different levels. The loft bedroom has a double bed and the other bedrooms have twin beds. A comfortable lounge on the middle floor has easy access to the fully equipped kitchen / dining room.

The loft and middle level boast sea and mountain views. A balcony on three sides of the middle level provides a typical South Africa style of living. The downstairs bedroom opens on to an interesting water feature garden.

Between the main house and the adjoining cottage, a BBQ room, with large fireplace, and a second fully equipped kitchen cater for large groups. Two large tables in this area provide seating for 12 people. This kitchen is fitted with a dishwasher and adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry.

We came, we saw and ONRUS conquered. This place is a balm for body, mind and spirit. From frantic Johannesburg, we have been here several times and the visits always bring to mind that lovely poem : "I must down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky......." The "hosts" Suzette assisted often by Pierre (also known as "Doepie") are remarkable people. Well traveled and knowledgeable with a good sense of humour and a great capacity for story-telling, it is always worth tapping their expertise. If it's true that "people make the place" then be sure that wherever you go those you meet will be friendly, happy and helpful. ONRUS (unrest, distress) is probably a fitting name as what it provides is the total antithesis. There is a saying that on our gravestones between the birth and death dates there is as DASH. It is up to all of us to make the best of that "dash" and ensure that we live a life worthwhile to ourselves and others. A visit to ONRUS and environs will certainly make a valuable contribution to your "dash!" So: Enjoy it, dash it...! Cliff and Ria Saunders.

We had a wonderfull time at perlemoen, enjoying a great view at the sea & sunset from the terrace, having dinner outside next to the braai. The house is perfectly accomodated for a comfortable stay and elaborated cooking :) Thank you for the great time we had with you, Pierre and Suzette, and for helping organising a super holiday!
