To reach it one takes a quick left at the Wine Village (which stocks 600 producers and 1600 labels of wine) on the R44, en route to Hermanus. Directly translated from the Afrikaans Hemel-en-Aarde means 'heaven-and-earth' and, certainly for those who live there, the valley is often described as, literally, ... cont.
From Cape Town International Airport:
1. Head northeast on Ring Rd for 900 m.
2. Use the middle 2 lanes to stay on Ring Rd for 170 m.
3. Use the left 2 lanes to stay on Ring Rd for 650 m.
4. Use the 2nd from the right lane to turn slightly left toward Airport Approach Rd for 180 m.
5. Continue straight onto Airport Approach Rd for 190 m.
6. Use the middle lane to stay on Airport Approach Rd for 1.2 km.
7. Use the left lane to merge onto N2 via the ramp to Somerset for 450 m.
8. Merge onto N2 for 96.0 km.
9. Turn right onto Hoop St/R316 and continue to follow R316 for 1.7 km.
10. Continue onto Chavonnes Way for 160 m.
11. Turn right onto Hermanus Way for 2.2 km.
12. Continue onto R320 for 7.7 km.
13. Turn left for 2.7 km.
14. Turn left for 22 m.
15. Turn left; destination will be on the left for 240 m.
