Kakamas is a rather small town situated in the Northern Cape of South Africa. This interesting town was originally built by a church and named after the Khoi word for 'poor pasture'. Today, this name poorly reflects on a fertile valley in the lower Orange River, graced with vineyards, cotton and Lucerne fields. From Upington:
Follow the road to Keimoes then through to Kakamas.Just before you get to Kakamas there is a Sign saying N10 Namibia Riemvasmaak.
Turn Right there. Zero your speedometer. From that point at 3km the road will become Gravel. From the Gravel road at 7.4km you will then see a Split in the Road. Stick Left! following Riemvasmaak. Follow on for the next 23.7km and you will see our Gate on your Left hand side.
It still has the old Khamkirri Stone Pillar entrance. The gate will be open. Drive down and follow the Signs saying Reception/Ontvangs.
