Beaufort West in the oldest town in the Central Karoo, a town rich in history that holds intrigue for the scientist, the historian and the eco-tourist. The first reptile fossils were discovered near here, in what has subsequently been described as the world's richest collecting ground for these fossils.

Other attractions include the Karoo National Park, visits to local museums, guided donkey cart tours and scenic routes into the mountains.
