About Hamasha Bush Camp

Leshiba is situated in a secluded valley high in the Soutpansberg Mountains of Limpopo Province, an area renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and striking natural scenery. Hamasha Bush Camp is a private, six-bed bush retreat surrounded by indigenous trees and framed by an impressive amphitheatre of towering cliffs and rugged mountains.

With sweeping views across Hamasha Gorge towards the northern plains, this remote hideaway offers a peaceful escape from everyday life, ideal for guests seeking privacy, tranquillity and a closer connection with the African wilderness.

The Accommodation

Hamasha Bush Camp features three separate en-suite bedrooms. The master suite has a king-size bed that can be configured as twin beds, an en-suite bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet, as well as an outdoor shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, while the third contains twin beds. Both additional bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers and toilets, together with outdoor showers.

The open-plan living area includes a comfortable lounge with an open fireplace, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with a pantry. Outside, guests can make use of the central braai facilities and fire pit. The camp operates on solar power, with solar water heaters and gas geysers providing hot water, and Wi-Fi is available. Please note that there is no cellular reception at the camp, and access requires a 4x4 or high-clearance vehicle.

Self-catering provisions

Everything needed for an independent self-catering stay is provided, including a fully equipped kitchen, braai equipment, a potjie pot, a gas stove and gas oven. A solar-powered refrigerator and solar freezer are available for storing food and beverages, while cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils are supplied.

Basic kitchen provisions include salt, black pepper, English tea, Rooibos tea, sugar and a coffee plunger. Guests will also find toilet paper, soap, dishwashing liquid, sponges, dishcloths, cleaning cloths, matches and rubbish bags. Solar lanterns provide lighting, while firewood is supplied for braais and the fire pit, with additional loads available to purchase.

The beds are made up with 100% cotton linen, and towels are provided. Towels can be changed on request once during a stay.

Hamasha Bush Camp offers a genuinely secluded bush experience, with its remote setting providing exceptional privacy and a sense of exclusivity. The surrounding mountain wilderness invites exploration, from scenic hikes into Hamasha Gorge, where seasonal rock pools offer opportunities for swimming, to longer walks towards Tolkien's Forest and Hamasha Plain, where a variety of wildlife can be encountered.

Whether spending time on the trails, gathering around the fire in the evening or simply appreciating the magnificent mountain views, Hamasha provides an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with family, friends, nature and yourself.

Things To Do

Outdoor activities at Leshiba include hiking along established trails, walking in the mountains, viewing game, birdwatching, swimming in seasonal rock pools, trail running and mountain biking. Guests wishing to cycle should bring their own bicycles. Guided game drives, rock-art excursions, medicinal-plant walks and stargazing experiences can also be arranged, subject to availability.
