Gert Boom has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, both with showers only, one of which is part of the double bedroom. The other bedroom is twin bedded. Comfortable chairs and sofa are next to the hearth, so welcome on cold winter evenings, and its fireplace doubles as an indoor braai. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, with four-burner hob, oven and fridge all gas-powered. Many guests, though, prefer to book dinner which is delivered to the cottage. Breakfast is only served at the converted farm kitchen at the main homestead. utdoors there is patio and braai area, a hammock is suspended between two huge gum trees and there is the option in summer of a refreshing swim in the farm-style reservoir pool about 100m from the cottage. For the more energetic there are extensive mountain bike trails – and bikes for hire, and wonderful walking opportunities to the dramatic canyon and surrounds. There is a farm jeep track to the canyon too.
