De Cango Farm is a guest house in Oudtshoorn with six separate en-suite rooms. The rooms are situated 100m from the main entertainment area in the forest. The rooms are all furnished with Queen-size beds. The en-suite bathrooms are fitted with an in-room bath, separate shower, separate toilet and basin. Each room has a wood burning fireplace, a fridge and opens onto a balcony.

The main reception area boasts a homely lounge area, a built-in braai facility and a deck with patio furniture overlooking the mountains and river.

Attractions

The guests have access to the whole property and are able to walk, run and cycle on the gravel roads around the farm outside the fenced-off game camps. The solar and gas-powered farm is completely off-the-grid and grows lucerne and lavender. Guests will often spot free-roaming buffalo and antelope. The area is renowned for ostriches, olive and wine farms, MTB trails, trail running and the Cango Caves.

We (a couple) unfortunately only spent one night here on our trip between Ostrich Farm/Cango Caves and the Swartbwerg Pass the next day. The whole place is beautiful, huge, with plenty of private space and well maintained. As we were the only guests at the time, we had the lake to ourselves and enjoyed a swim at 40 degrees in a very nice area. The public area is spacious, with books, toys and games, a barbecue, a kitchen and also fishing rods. The accommodation is also spacious and very well equipped: kitchenette, fridge, bathtub and a nice outdoor shower on the terrace. The owners were very friendly and helped us with a bottle of red wine. For a beautiful piece of land and seclusion, the 15 minute drive down the gravel road was more than worth it.
