About Observatory Swimming Pool
Cape Town summers are hot, dry and sunny - perfect for school holidays and family vacations spent at the side of the swimming pool. In the heart of the city is the vibrant suburb of Observatory, where historical homes meet quirky coffee shops, world-class restaurants, boutiques, crafts, and everything in-between. This is also where the Observatory Swimming Pool can be found along Willow Road.
The main pool is 33 metres long, 25 metres wide and two metres deep. It is ideal for those wanting to train, brush up on their swimming skills, or simply frolic in the irresistibly cool waters as a respite from the South African sunshine. The children’s pool is a fantastic addition to the main pool, as it is a small, safe spot for little ones to enjoy while their folks look on from their towels or picnic spots. This pool is only 10 metres long, five metres wide and half a metre deep.
Swimming always gets the appetite going. So, the spacious grassy spot at the pool is a great place to put down some towels or blankets, open your picnic basket, have a snack, and enjoy a day with friends or family while drinking in the views of the swimming pool. Not only is this convenient, but it makes for a fabulous vibe, inviting young and old to make a whole day of it. This facility can accommodate more than 550 people.
The Observatory Swimming Pool is only open during the warmer season, which extends from October to April. During that time, it is open every day from 10h00 to 17h00. There is a small entrance fee for children under 16 years of age. Pensioners are welcome to visit the pool at no cost. There are 50 parking spaces for the patrons of the pool.
