Poona Lodge provides a welcome stopover for holiday and business travelers alike. Located a short distance out of Phalaborwa on the Mica / Hoedspruit road you will find an oasis of peace and tranquility under shady indigenous trees which play host to an abundance of birdlife. Birders will love this spot. You are at total liberty to wander through out the property and experience the call of the bushveld. Utmost care has been taken to preserve the prolific bird life and the indigenous trees. Sample the exotic fruit of the Marula which grows here, watch in awe as the colorful Mopani worms cover the mopani tree. Poona Lodge is class, simple African taste and subtle luxury at affordable rates with excellent personal service. ACCOMMODATIONAccommodation is a lovely thatch lodge and cottage consisting of 9 bedrooms all en-suite. In total we have 22 beds. Full DSTV in the lounge where you can make yourself at home and help yourself to tea and coffee. All rooms are air-conditioned and have overhead fans. Mosquito nets are also provided in all rooms. The extremely comfortable double and three quarter beds, covered in cool cotton percale sheets ensure a nights rest that every weary traveler dreams of. DININGBreakfast is served either in the dining room or out in the garden or around the pool, at anytime between 7am and 10am. Just arrange with Dee the night before as you may want to lie in a bit later after the night before! Or you may require sustenance earlier to be on time for your business appointment. Breakfasts are sumptuous full English with all the trimmings and filter coffee. Evening meals are usually enjoyed under the stars around a blazing wood fire. Traditional Braai and side dishes is the most popular and what better way to spend the evening while chatting and making new friends under the African sky. For larger groups we do a lamb and pork roast on the spit again with delicious side dishes and freshly baked breads. A variety of meals are available so arrange with Dee when making your booking and let her know your taste. FACILITIESRelax at the poolside and enjoy a sundowner at our licensed bar. An evening swim in the pool which is surrounded by boulders and lush gardens is an absolute pleasure in our tropical climate. For the avid sports fans we have a separate DSTV television in the Lapa adjoining the licensed bar where a variety of different “coolers” can be enjoyed. Additional Facilities We offer safe parking, E-Mail and fax service. Mobile / Cell phone reception for most networks. Arrangements can be made for airport transfers, bookings for activities in the region. Laundry service is available on site. We have ample parking for your 4x4’s and Ski boats. WEDDINGS & CONFERENCESPoona Lodge is ideal if you planning to accommodate a group of people for a special occasion or a group of friends away from home. If you book the whole lodge you are then assured of venue exclusivity. This could be for an intimate garden wedding for which we do all the flowers and catering etc, if you require this service. A team building weekend - we can arrange paintball in our camp area and guarantee lots to talk about and ‘War Wounds’ to compare. There is nothing like this experience to break the ice. This activity must be pre arranged in conjunction with lodge booking. ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIESFrom the comfort or this lovely lodge you can visit, explore and experience the many activities in and around Phalaborwa. We are 10 minutes away from the Phalaborwa Gate of the Kruger National Park which makes us an ideal stop over the night before entering the gate in the morning.
