Moonwhite has been specifically designed and built by the owners to remain cool in the summer heat and warm during the winter months. The house presents a perfect balance between inside and outside living and is so comfortable to be in, that you will never want to leave. AccommodationAlthough we intentionally do not offer the standard technology that is so prevalent in modern day life (plasma screens, television, DSTV, DVD, video, I-pod chargers, stereos, surround sound, radios, microwave, computers, ASDL, alarm systems, LCD screens, motorized curtains, CCTV cameras ... not even an incoming telephone line), we do guarantee hundreds of birds at the crack of dawn, including the resident flock of guinea fowl, the silent night (maybe the odd cricket), the occasional call of a pair of fish eagles (they nest in the tall gum tree on the river), the splash of the pool fountain, the barnyard sounds emanating from the farm across the road ... if you want to get away from it all, this is your perfect destination. This excellent practical house offers the following accommodation: One double bedroom with an en-suite shower and separate toilet. Double doors leading directly into to the garden and pool. One double bedroom (twin beds can be separated). All linen and towels are provided. Both bedrooms have cupboards, fans, electric blankets and wall panel heaters. One separate bathroom with a large bath. A fully equipped kitchen which opens out onto a Verandah and Courtyard area (with braai facilities) around an ice cold plunge pool. A large double volume Lounge/Dining room with exposed trusses and an open fireplace. Wood is provided and the well built fireplace draws beautifully. The front stoep faces the Krans Nature Reserve, and is an ideal spot for early morning breakfast and sundowners where you can watch the surrounding hills change colour. McGregor:McGregor is a two hour drive along the N1 from Cape Town and is situated in the heart of the Breede River Valley just fifteen minutes from Robertson and the Route 62 Wine Route. Moonwhite is situated on the edge of this pretty Klein Karoo village with amazing un-interrupted views of the surrounding hills. Our house is a perfect place to relax and unwind after a hard day wine tasting, touring, lunching or whatever it is you are doing in the Breede River Valley. McGregor itself offers many eateries offering a wide variety of country cuisine. The village boasts one of the finest butchers in the Western Cape whose specialty is his very own brand of local sausage (boerewors). It also offers a rich variety of architecture, some old and aesthetically very pleasing and some new and innovative straw bale and mud houses. The charm of the place lies in the fact that there is nothing much to do although there are several hiking trails in the area with an abundance of local vegetation (fynbos). One can wander along the village roads at any time of the day or night, and apart from the village clock chiming every half hour, one generally hears only birds during the day and crickets at night. A Donkey Sanctuary is situated just before the village which offers delicious food, a lovely shop and, of course some old donkeys to look at or adopt, if you are that way inclined. There is also the McGregor Winery with its famous Columbard. Wir sprechen auch Deutsch. ACCREDITATIONS
