Map and Directions to Lavender Beach in Vermont, Cape Overberg, Western Cape

DIRECTIONS

From Cape Town
Follow the N2 over Sir Lowry’s Pass, past Elgin Apple orchards and Peregrine and Houwhoek Farm Stalls, over dual-carriage Houwhoek Pass at the bottom of which you take the left turnoff to HERMANUS.

Continue till you get the Vermont/Onrusrivier turn off (Vermont Ave), it is at the corner of a large green-roofed shopping complex (Onrus Trading Post) Turn left into Vermont Ave.

Continue with Vermont Ave, after you pass the traffic circle continue over the speed hump until you get a T junction – in Marine Drive turn right, we are the third establishment on the right: 46 MARINE DRIVE

Scenic Route
Turn off the N2 to Strand and meander around this beautiful stretch of coastline passing through Gordon's Bay, Rooiels, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond getting to a T-junction to turn right to HERMANUS.

Continue till you get the Vermont/Onrusrivier turn off (Vermont Ave), it is at the corner of a large green-roofed shopping complex (Onrus Trading Post) Turn left into Vermont Ave.

Continue with Vermont Ave, after you pass the traffic circle continue over the speed hump until you get a T junction – in Marine Drive turn right, we are the third establishment on the right. 46 MARINE DRIVE.

This stretch is quite as beautiful as the drive around the Peninsula. In Betty’s Bay you can visit the ,Harold Porter Nature Reserve and even hope to spot a leopard or visit the penguins. Some of the best fishing in South Africa, both spear and line, is on this coast but as the crosses dotted along this coast show, this can be a dangerous coast. These crosses commemorate anglers swept out to sea – remember that this area was often a haven for escaped slaves in early Cape history.

In Kleinmond visit the harbour area and The Potter - good for tea, lunch and interesting pottery (a must!)

From The Garden Route
On the N2 heading towards Cape Town, pass through RIVIERSONDEREND (river without end) and 10km further you get a turn off left to STANFORD / HERMANUS. Drive through wheat field’s and sheep farms, get to a T-junction in Stanford and turn right to HERMANUS. Drive right through Hermanus (about 10km) and pass Gateway Shopping Centre on your left, over a traffic light which says Sandbaai / Caledon and at the next traffic light turn left to ONRUSRIVER.

Get to a stop street at the Total Garage, go over and drive till u get Vermont Ave. turn left, Continue with Vermont Ave, after you pass the traffic circle continue over the speed hump until you get a T junction – in Marine Drive turn right, we are the third establishment on the right. 46 MARINE DRIVE.
