Set in an unspoilt part of the northern Drakensberg mountains on the world famous Panorama Route, Iketla Lodge is a nature lover's dream! This private nature conservancy of 540 ha nestles in a natural basin formed by spectacular mountains and cliffs.

A comfortable 4 hour drive from Johannesburg / Pretoria, Iketla is the ideal stopover en-route to the Kruger National Park and other private game reserves. Why not stay for a few days and use Iketla as a base from which to explore the spectacular Panorama Route: Blyde River Canyon (only 30 minutes from Iketla), Bourke's Luck Potholes, God's Window, Pilgrim's Rest, Long Tom Pass, etc.

INFRASTRUCTURE


Live out the meaning of "Iketla" – be relaxed ... be peaceful. Iketla Lodge offers a very informal and relaxed environment. A luxurious infrastructure for a maximum of 16 guests per night guarantees exclusivity, privacy, the opportunity to savour the natural wonders of unspoilt Africa and personal service par excellence! A central thatched area houses the lounge, dining area and bar. It has stunning views of the surrounding mountains. An open sundeck overlooks the sparkling pool.

ACCOMMODATION


Guests are accommodated in spacious stone-and-thatch cottages, all with en-suite facilities and private patios. The private patios overlook a natural valley and offer spectacular views of the amphitheatre of mountains and cliffs.

The cottages are individually decorated and guests may choose between double or twin beds. All cottages are equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, reading tables and lounge chairs. The en-suite facilities include shower, toilet and basin as well as an outside, very private, shower.

CUISINE


Rates include dinner and breakfast. A Continental / English breakfast is served from 08:00 to 09:00 in the dining area with spectacular views of the valley. In the evening, guests join the owners for a convivial 3-course dinner of traditional South African cuisine prepared and served with flair. a light lunch can be ordered between 12:00 and 13:00 at nominal extra cost.

ACTIVITIES


Guests can relax around the pool or enjoy nature walks in the bush. Routes, varying from 30 minutes to 4+ hours are well marked and safe. Explore the diverse ecology on your own or in the company of a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. Iketla is also ideally located to explore the famous Panorama Route (Blyde River Canyon, Potholes, God’s Window, etc).

Iketla Lodge is owned and managed by Albert & Hennielene Botha who previously owned a private game lodge in the Greater Kruger Park area for 9 years. It has long been their dream to establish a nature retreat where guests can be totally relaxed. They have vast experience in the hospitality industry and their hallmark has always been their personal service and attention to detail.
