Ladysmith Accommodation / Hunters Lodge Ladysmith Accommodation / Guest Lodge in Ladysmith

Hunters Lodge is centrally situated in the busy town of Ladysmith. We pride ourselves on providing a restful oasis for the weary traveller and offer a home from home atmosphere - arrive as strangers and leave as friends. We also ensure that our breakfasts and dinners satisfy the most discerning of palates and hungriest of the hungry. We enjoy what we do and are passionate about giving value for money.

Accommodation

Hunters Lodge comprises 15 rooms, 3 executive suites, 9 double / twin rooms all en suite with shower (some with bath as well), air-conditioning, satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities and are all separate from the main building. We have secure off street parking. Our rooms have been recently refurbished with a contemporary decor and are maintained to the highest of standards. Our manicured gardens add to the restful ambience that we take pride in offering to weary travellers.

Conferences

We offer several function venues. Our conference venue has been colourfully furnished with a modern twist to old ideas which we have found conducive to a lively atmosphere - essential in keeping those delegates awake. We can cater for 24 in a classroom style and more in a cinema arrangement. All the usual facilities of flip charts, white boards and screens are available and satellite conferencing can be arranged.

Typically delegates will break to the poolside lapa for mid morning and afternoon teas, lunches dinners and evening functions will be held in our tented dining area. This tented structure was designed and built by suppliers from Ladysmith and offers an 'out of Africa' feel with a fireside conversation pit. We have great fun with paraffin lamps and candles - "Survivor Ladysmith".

Dining

Prior arrangement for refreshments can be provided for functions.

Our dinners are in the main dining room of the old house. We typically dine with our guests and ensure that everyone gets to meet the person sitting next to them - some evenings become quite festive especially with foreign tourists. We find that our guests, especially ladies, do not want to eat at a separate restaurant on their own and enjoy the safety of numbers at our table. Sometimes it is nice to be able to have 1/2 hour of cheerful chatter while you dine and then off to bed or last minute paperwork.

Our evening meals are wholesome home cooked fare such as roasted red pepper soup with home made bread, roast de boned leg of lamb, vegetables and dessert. We also offer bottomless fruit juice and coffee. No one leaves hungry. Our breakfasts are full English and we do not limit quantities.

Ladysmith

Ladysmith is strategically situated 2.5 hours from Durban and 3.5 hours from Johannesburg. We are 80 km from Champagne valley in the central Drakensberg and are within easy reach of the Northern berg. We are on the main route from KwaZulu Natal to Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga.

Being close to the mountains and the resorts therein we can recommend game drives, quad biking trails, horse riding and white water rafting and it makes sense to use Ladysmith as central point from which to explore the many attractions. The Drakensberg Boys Choir practice evenings are recommended. Closer to home we can offer our own golf course, game drives with the big 5, horse riding and many safe cycling routes.

The climate in Ladysmith ranges from stifling hot in summer to frosty cold in winter. The days are usually bright and sunny and the nights clear and ideal for stargazing especially in winter.
