DIRECTIONS

N2 from Cape Town - direction Somerset West
Stay on the N2, past Somerset West, the Strand and Gordons Bay.

EITHER - Mountain Pass
Go up Sir Lowry’s Pass, pass Elgin & Grabouw – with excellent farmstalls/restaurants, and continue up the Houw Hoek Pass. As you descend the other side you will get to a very sharp hairpin bend corner and immediately after that you will begin to see the signs for the turn off to Hermanus - R43. You feed off to the left and cross the N2 on a flyover. Continued below (see "Both Routes").

ALTERNATELY – Coastal Road
Turn off the N2 at the bottom of Sir Lowry’s Pass (on the Cape Town side of the mountain, before you begin the climb) towards Gordon’s Bay, and follow the scenic R44 around the coast past Rooiels, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay (stop at Stoney Point and see the penguins!) and Kleinmond. This road ends at a T-Junction with the R43. Turn right towards Hermanus. This route takes about 20 minutes longer. Continued below (see "Both Routes").

BOTH ROUTES
From the turnoff onto the R43 – after 24kms you arrive in the centre of Hermanus. Drive straight and eventually a traffic light will force you to turn left. 3.5 kms further you will reach a very big traffic circle (roundabout). Go ½ way around the circle (ie keep going straight !) past the Friendly Seven Eleven store on your left, and 1/2km further, just as you come to the top of a small rise in the road, you will see 10th Avenue (one signboard will point right to Grotto Blue Flag Beach and other points to ‘guest house’ left up to the mountain. Continue straight up 10th Avenue – we are at the very top of the road. We look forward to welcoming you to FrancolinHof Guest House.
