DESCRIPTION:

ZenZulu, in the heart of Zululand’s Elephant Coast, South Africa, is a safari destination like no other. It’s an easy 3 hour drive from Durban. We offer remarkable game-viewing, rich biodiversity, comfortable, spacious accommodation, all within a quiet atmosphere which encourages the keen observation of nature for the benefit of personal reflection and inspiration.

Accommodation

The Lodge itself sits in a Fever tree forest, beside a dam which ensures that you will be in the thick of a wildlife experience even when sitting quietly with your morning coffee on the deck. Our plunge pool means that the crocs are not the only ones with a license to stay cool during the summer.

Our camp is small and exclusive. There are 3 en-suite double bedroom units. A third bed can be added to accommodate a child or friend. In additional there are 2 beds in the main lodge building with full bathroom for overflow.

Bedrooms are en-suite with ceiling fans. And there is a second shower outdoors in a private, screened garden courtyard for those guests wishing to bath under the African sky. In order to keep this dream from being out of reach, we have designed it to be self-catering.

You may cook your meals in our well-appointed kitchen or let us fire up the pizza oven or have a braai in the boma, but rest assured that the clean up is in our hands. Our dedicated staff which includes a top class ranger, housekeeper and assistant ranger, will ensure that your party is well looked after.

The emphasis at ZenZulu is on privacy … your party of up to 8 people will have exclusive use of this secluded lodge, its staff and facilities. There is a minimum booking of 4 people. Children over 10 are welcome.

We have a unique tree house at one of the dams. Brave souls who want to experience a night under the stars at the top of a Tambooti tree may do so subject to pre-arrangement and suitable weather.

Zululand Rhino Reserve

We are a member of the 22,000 hectare Big 5 Zululand Rhino Reserve. Currently, we traverse are area of approximately 2000 hectares of the Mkuze West portion of this reserve. Rhino are especially plentiful and you will see Nyala, Zebra, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Duiker, Impala, Warthog, Kudu, Reedbuck, and Buffalo. Leopard and Caracal are common to the area but elusive. Our camp is unfenced from the wild and Nyala, Impala and Warthog are frequently seen walking within our complex.

A neighboring lodge offers an “Elephant Experience” which allows you to meet two of the reserve's approachable elephants. This program has an additional charge and must be pre-booked.
