This quaint rock cottage on the seas edge overlooks "Little Billy Bay" with its lagoon. Numerous changes were made over the years to make it more comfortable for holidays, the latest being the addition of a gas braai and large shadeport over a portion of the pooldeck for outdoor comfort. The Cottage is named after a huge rock situated in the sea directly in front of "whaleback" - A favourite low tide fishing spot amongst locals. An interesting historical fact is that "Cry The Beloved Country" was written here by Alan Paton in 1946 and The cottage was recently visited by Kingsley Holgate on his "Outside Edge of Africa" expedition. Whaleback Cottage is on the sea and beachfront in Ramsgate, with superb views of the sea, beach and indigenous bush. It offers fully equipped and serviced accommodation in an excellent beachfront position in the village. Two full bathrooms, one with bath and shower and one with bath and handshower, one extra separate toilet (3 in total). Ceiling fans are provided in the 3 main bedrooms. Kitchen, dining room and large lounge. The kitchen is fully equipped including 2 large fridges, dishwasher, large microwave, under-counter oven, hob & extractor and vacuum cleaner. 2 lock-up garages and 2 safes are provided. DIRECTIONS: Take the N-2 South Coast Highway from Durban, past Durban International Airport and travel ± 140 km to the R620 - Margate/Ramsgate off-ramp. Turn left at the end of the off-ramp. Go to the first stop (± 1 km) then turn right into Marine Drive. Travel down the hill, past the Waffle House, over the lagoon and past the BP garage on the left. ± 100 metres from the garage over the crest of the hill, take the first left turn into Deale Lane. Drive towards the seafront and follow the road as it turns to the left past our Rosscarbery units. Directly ahead is a rock wall with wooden gates. You Have Arrived!
