DESCRIPTION:

Set on 1600 hectares in a secluded valley on the southern side of the Inhluzane Mountain, in Upper Dargle, KZN Midlands, Tillietudlem offers a unique eco experience with a variety of activities available such fly fishing, birding, horse rides and game walks, and is host to a myriad of wildlife including rare and endangered animal and bird species plus a plethora of wild flowers and indigenous trees.

Accommodation is available in two lodges and a cottage.

Fully Catered or Bed & Breakfast


Ogram’s Colonial House
This is a luxurious classical colonial farm house dating back to the late 19th century, set under a huge oak tree overlooking several tranquil dams, rolling lawns and absolute peace. Roaring fires, original Oregon pine floors, sash windows and high ceilings capture the magic of a bygone era. This luxuriously furnished 4 star graded guest lodge accommodates eight guests in four double bedrooms with three en suite bathrooms. All bedrooms are equipped with electric blankets, gas heaters and hairdryers.

It’s easy to while away the days watching the otters playing in the dam below, taking advantage of the excellent fly fishing literally on your doorstep or dining at your leisure whilst watching the herds of wildebeest grazing on the hillsides. Telephone, satellite internet connection and DsTV are just some of the facilities on offer. Ogram’s Colonial house is fully catered, providing delicious farm fresh fare.

Dining
When you’re staying at the Ogram’s Colonial House, you have the choice of catering options from bed and breakfast to full board. Whatever option you choose, we are fast gaining a reputation for excellent cuisine - some of our guests have already rated our cuisine as “5 star”. From a sumptuous breakfast to a delicious three course dinner, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. A light lunch is served on the expansive verandah overlooking the dams. Special dietary requirements or requests will also be accommodated. On request, we will happily prepare scrumptious breakfast or lunch hampers for those wishing to spend time out walking or bird-watching.

Self Catering


Hlega Manzi Lodge
This is a comfortable self catering lodge perched over the spectacular waterfall on the upper reaches of the Elands River. An expansive wooden deck overlooks the canopy of indigenous forest with a spectacular views. The lodge sleeps eight people in two double bedrooms, and two bedrooms with two single beds, with two bathrooms. Open plan lounge and dining room with welcoming fireplace for those cold mountain evenings, and a fully equipped kitchen. Linen is provided but guests are requested to bring their own towels. The lodge is serviced daily. Other facilities include telephone, DsTV, electric blankets, gas heaters and braai facilities.

The Milk Parlour Cottage
This cottage sleeps two and is cosy, comfortable and well appointed with lounge, kitchen / dining room, bathroom and bedroom, and provides an ideal getaway for a couple. A cosy fireplace, DsTV, electric blankets, gas heaters and braai facilities ensure a relaxed and restful stay. The cottage is serviced daily.

Attractions & Activities


Fishing
Fisherman can access several exceptional trout dams and the river within easy walking distance where trophy Brown and Rainbow Trout up to 4.2 kg have been caught. Tillietudlem offers exceptional and exclusive fly fishing for Rainbow and Brown trout, plus indigenous Yellow fish, in 5 dams and the Eland’s river. Guided fishing and fly-fishing clinics are available by prior arrangement.

Horse rides and horse back safaris
Take the time to meander on horseback through the magnificent valleys of Tillietudlem, accompanied by one of our rangers. Hidden waterfalls, herds of eland and an artist’s palette of wildflowers make this an unforgettable experience. Prior booking is essential.

DIRECTIONS:

North Gate Directions
• From N3
• Take the Howick North/Tweedie off ramp and head for Tweedie on the 103
• Turn right at T-Junction
• Turn Left at Dargle/Impendle Rd
• Turn Left onto D522

From Nottingham Road
• Head for Lions River on R103, past Michaelhouse School
• Approx 12kms after Michaelhouse turn right into Dargle/Impendle Rd
• Continue until the D522 and turn left.

South Gate Directions
• From N3
• Take the Howick South/Underberg (exit99) off ramp and head for Underberg (via Boston) on 617
• Pass through Boston Village and after 6kms turn right onto Impendle Rd (signposted Impendle)
• After 6.5kms pass Coquidale Farm on your left
• Continue for another 500m and the South Gate is on your right (Please be careful as this turn off is on a corner)

Important
• The South Gate is usually locked and arrangements must be made with Tillietudlem management for it to to be unlocked (033 234 4226).
